11:25am Senior Lounge

"Yeah really!? And how tall was he do you think?", said an intrigued Sal.

"Would I know? I'm not a fucking scale", I replied, leaning back further into the couch and fiddling with my neck brace.

It was lunchtime and Sal and I had met up at the senior lounge to do assignments and have a bite to eat. I decided to tell him all about my morning encounter with the blonde since he looked bored.

So far he only seemed to care about his height, which was weird for someone who was plenty tall already.

"Christ, Alex, your choice of humor is childish.", he said with a frown. I really couldn't care less about what he had to say anyways.

He got up and took a photograph of a bookcase and went back to his seat. He glanced at it and took down a couple more notes, before chugging down the rest of his drink.

Maybe I should have lead with it, but Sal absolutely loves anything with alcohol in it. Even the 1% alcohol content in your apple juice he will drink.

He handles it really well though. We were all amazed the first time we went out for drinks and Sal- having had over 20 shots - drove us all to back our separate houses before stopping at the library for some studying.

That was kinda one of the reasons we became friends with him. Even now, after his third glass of his favorite mixed drink- Crown Royal & Ginger -he still seemed as sober as the rest of us.

The damage to his livers though, I don't even want to fathom.

I followed Sal's movements around the room as he went about his task. It was also my homework, since we have the same course, but I wasn't feeling up to it just yet.

Feeling a little bit starved even after I just ate, I pushed myself off the fluffy couch and went to the small cupboard for a snack.

The snacks were all the way on the second floor of the lounge, along with the flatscreen, board games, speaker and an assortment of rugs, cushions, and bean bags.

They really did try their best to make the seniors not hate the school before they graduated and I honestly wasn't complaining.

I made my way to the cupboard and yanked it open. Almost immediately my eyes zoned in on the small bag of Doritos and I reached for them.

My stomach grumbled as if to say 'that small bag will never be enough' and I wholeheartedly agreed, so I snatched a pack of Oreos and a large back of Lays as well.

Oh boy, I couldn't wait to drive Sal insane with my loud crunching.

As I closed the cupboard and turned around, I saw a girl come running up the stairs towards me looking very excited, and clutching something in her hand.

"Theodore!! I knew I'd find you here! You-"

Before she could finish her sentence, she tripped over her shoelace and whacked her head against the railing then landed in a heap at the top of the staircase.

That's gonna leave a mark , I thought to myself.

The railings were made of strong oak wood and had very sharp edges. Human strength would not be able to break them, so the idea that this girl hadn't already died was more than a little weird.

My stomach rumbled again and I adjusted the chips in my hand, terribly hungry. I hope whatever this girl wanted to tell me was goddamn worth it.

In the last 5 minutes she hadn't showed any signs of life. When she shifted on the floor at long last though, my patience ran out.
