My Thursday had been uneventful so far. Besides the nasty cold I caught this morning, I was pretty bored. I was also sporting a nasty purple bruise from Sia because I stole her bacon. And it's like, just fry some more? I don't get it.
Anyways, I'm sprawled across the sofa in the living room, working on some assignments and drinking some coffee. A rabbit just crawled into my lap and fell asleep, so now I've got to be still. Dad walks into the room.
"Hey Thor. What you workin' on?", he says casually, and turns on the TV. He flicks through the channels before landing on some rando action film. I let out a huge sigh and drop my pen.
"Home work and stuff. Also turn that off I'm kinda busy.", I reply, not looking up. I'm feeling a little hot so I wriggle out of the blanket I have draped over me. It was a dumb idea in the first place.
My phone goes off and I look at the ID. It's my friend Tom-Tom. That's not her real name though.
"Actually nevermind, keep watching. I gotta take this", I say. Dad's eyes light up and he quickly turns it back on. I kick the rabbit off of me and rush to my room. The lights are off but I don't care, and I lock the door and slide under my table before accepting the call.
"Yeah? Why'd you call?", I ask
"I just found something out and I've got to tell you ", she replies.
"Oh? Out with it then"
"So you know how we had new students come in last week?"
"How could I forget?? Assembly was a shitshow Monday morning."
"Yes yes! Now at dinner, my Dad tells me we may not have enough space in the classrooms for the nearly 100 new students. So apparently we have to rotate classes every 10 minutes so everyone gets a classroom."
"So while some of us are having English class, the rest 40% will be loitering in the halls? For real?", I ask with growing excitement.
"No kidding! But it gets better. Sometime next month they would have built a new school. Like a whole ass new school!!!", she is now screaming into my ear.
"WHAT!? That's so cool!!", I yell. A new school would be the best thing since sliced bread. Our school right now isn't the worst, but it's the little things. Like the fact that the toilets don't flush well so every bathroom smells like Bigfoot's asshole. Or that the kitchen is really small and therefore not very functional. Just yesterday there was a burger patty floating around in the tomato soup.
Maybe even the fact that the layout of the school is absolute shit. The cafeteria is outside, and so are the flies. But then again it's forbidden to eat lunch anywhere else. The boys' toilets are at the end of each hall, there's one on each floor. The girls' toilets however are in a small cluster at the top of the school.
Apparently it's because the principal wanted to keep an eye on the goings in and out of the bathrooms. She's such a weirdo, but hey it's her school not mine.
"See this is what happens when you stay home from school", she scolds
"Oh come off it. I had the best day ever today y'know", I counter
"Really now? Tell me all about it"

9:30 pm
I am now snuggled up warm and cozy in bed, awaiting my sleep and a little excited to see the new kids at school tomorrow. I sure do hope they aren't annoying or anything. See they brought them in (all 97 of them) last week Monday for a tour of the school.
Besides that they haven't showed up at school since. Probably mentally preparing or something.
I'm sitting here thinking about what Tom-Tom said, and it's got me thinking. I could make serious cash if I go about this a certain way. No one would like having to stand up nearly half the day right? Right!
So I slink out of bed and creep out of my room. At the top of the stairs I can hear my older sister, my Dad and his girlfriend having a chat about the robbery on Gully St. I can also hear the faint din of the TV in the living room.
I tip toe down the stairs, through the lobby and into the garage. The buzz of animals is almost instant. This is where we keep our insane amount of pets. They all stay in this moderately sized room. They all perk up when I come through, but don't make any moves because I make a motion for them to be quiet.
Yeah they love me it's no big deal
I spot what I'm looking for pretty easily. A stack of foldable chairs in the dusty corner. There are about 30 of them, but I only need about 2. Dragging them out of the room and back upstairs proves to be very difficult, and if I get found out I won't hear the end of it.
I make it to the landing before I get fed up and set them down on the floor. It would make more sense and less noise if I just put them in a suitcase and wheeled that instead. So I went ahead and did that.
Well now the chairs are packed and I'm back in bed. I guess all that's left now is to go to bed. Good night everyone!!
