Two Forces

Interests diminish

Movements are slow and sluggish

Numerous and messy thoughts in silence

This is worse than sadness

Pessimistic thoughts overshadow

The optimistic thoughts that never follow

Negativity turns into an unbeatable beast

These thoughts don't cease

Walking with all senses asleep

The face without an expression

Giving a smile is too huge of a leap

The whole body empty of expression

Going through all these thoughts and emotions

Is only part of the solution

To temporarily end sadness

Don't seek, but wait and hope for happiness

Happiness and sadness aren't opposites with one another

Sadness gives value to happiness

Happiness gives value to sadness

Two forces that complement each other

On Sadness and Depression

Sitting still with the mind drifting away.

Filling the mind with numerous questions.

Seeking answers but having no solutions.

Diving in too deep and going astray.

The activities of the day seem like a bore.

Leisure and hobbies are more of a chore.

To lift the spirit will be a waste.

When all is done to put a smile on the face.

Although at times, it is possible to get out.

The mind, the heart, the self will always have a bout.

Emotions will mix, thoughts will multiply, problems will stack.

And depression will definitely be back.

Our Lola

On the night before Christmas Eve she left.

Everyone mourned, grieved, and cried on her deathbed.

On her face, it was seen that she was set

to answer the soft soothing call of death

She was nice, kind, loving, thoughtful, and warm.

We're her grandchildren and she's our Lola.

We all felt the sweet embrace of her arm,

the gentle touch of her hands. Dear Grandma!

But fate had made it so and caused her to be sick.

She had pneumonia, stroke, and a fracture.

To live, that's what she decided to pick.
