Confession

Naruto POV

I woke up the next afternoon with a start. Many things were rushing through my head at once as I looked at my familiar surroundings. I was in my room, and I had a pretty good idea of how I'd got there. I couldn't help the sense of relief that washed over me. Finally, there were a few alphas in the village that didn't want to claim me. Guy and Lee weren't the type to like being tied down or like commitment in general. They liked to get a plaything to destroy for a night or two and then they'd move on to their next victim. Something told me, though, that they weren't done with me and probably wouldn't be for a while.

I still had other things to focus on besides them, though. It was honestly a true relief that they did what they did and not what every other alpha had tried to do. Such quirky boys.

Shikamaru was expecting me sometime today, most likely sooner than later.

I looked outside and saw that it seemed to be just before noon. Great. They gave me just enough time to shower and pack before I had to run over to the Nara residence. I hadn't planned on telling anyone where I was going and just decided to go M.I.A for the time that I'd be there and blame it on a mission. I could only pray that Sasuke wouldn't come home while I was gone. He'd harass the whole village trying to find me.

A shiver went up my spine at the thought.

Hopping up from under the soft blankets, I scampered into the bathroom and turned on the water for it to heat up. Once it did, I hopped in, grabbing a rag on my way inside. The hot water felt good on my bare skin. Guy and Lee put me to bed naked, so I woke up with goosebumps already dusting across my shoulders, arms, and thighs. Quite the unique individuals, those two were.

I finished with my shower rather quickly and got dressed in something simple. Black sweatpants, orange t-shirt, and an oversized black sweater that one of my female omega friends had given me. I slipped on my slides and packed my essentials along with quite a few outfits into a suitcase. Thank goodness I had recently done laundry.

A small wave of sadness came over me as I looked back at my room, but I quickly shook my head and turned away. I was being silly. I would only be gone for a few days at most but I acted like I was moving out for good.

Chuckling to myself, I walked out my home and locked the door behind me. It was sunny outside but there were still light clouds and a breeze. Almost the perfect day. A feeling of bliss ran through me as I stood there for a moment, closing my eyes and letting the wind blow through my hair.

"You look so beautiful like this, you know", I heard a voice say from behind me.

A small laugh escaped my lips as I looked back to Shikamaru.

"Hey", I said simply and softly.

He chuckled and came closer to me, wrapping me in a hug.

"Hi, baby. Are you ready?"

I nodded my head and just leaned into his embrace. His hair was down and not in his usual ponytail. When he leaned down to kiss the top of my head, a few strands brushed and tickled my nose, causing me to sneeze.

He laughed again and stepped back from the embrace, taking my suitcase into one hand and putting his other onto the small of my back.

"Let's go then"

"But Shika~", I pouted, "You have so many guest rooms. Why can't I just stay in those?"

"How am I supposed to see you if you're in another room? Plus, you need to be protected. I won't be letting you out of my sight", he said dismissively, setting my bag down in his room and sitting down on a chair in his room.
