Seungmin. The guy who I've been friends with since I was 5 years old. He is the biggest nerd. The first time I met him he was eating worms on the playground and accused me of having cooties.Which is ridiculous-clearly he is the one with cooties.

Seungmin invited me to help him and his friend Jeongin study for their final exam. Apparently, these two aren't very good with organic chemistry. So, I fixed my glasses, put on my favorite pair of vans and hopped on the bus to meet them at the library.

When I arrived, the library was crowded with students cramming for their final exams. I looked around, sporting my BTS tote bag that held all my study materials. I spotted a mop of curly hair and a pair of round glasses, as well as two beautiful smiles with braces.

I walk over to them, three cups of coffee ready on the table for the long and hard study session ahead. I nod at both the gentlemen. Well, I wouldn't necessarily call them gentlemen. More like random weirdos I picked up off the street but hey, at least they're my weirdos.

"So y/n I'm having issues understanding the science behind the specific types of metal used for certain pieces." Seugmin spoke before my butt could even touch the chair.

"Yeah and what kind of bacteria can cause a cavity again?" Jeongin asked.

"What is the percentage of men vs women again with gingivitis?"

"Oh, and we got you a coffee. I hope you like oatmilk." Seungmin smiled sheepishly.

I sipped my coffee for fuel and gave the boys a thumbs up. Soon enough we began the grueling study session. We managed to figure out the answers to all the

Soon enough the time was 5:00pm.

Darn, time goes by fast.

Eventually, Jeongin left as his friend Minho quite literally tore him away from his textbook to go to volleyball practice, leaving just Seugmin and I.

No material was sticking anymore, so I began to bug my best friend.

"So why did you want to become a dentist?" I asked curiously

"Well, to be honest, my family wanted me to become something honourable, considering I moved to Canada to live a better life. But honestly, I wish I could be a baseball player." He looked down, fidgeting.

"You know, I've been friends with you for 15 years and I didn't even know you liked baseball. Why didn't you tell me?"

"Because my parents want something better for me, that's why y/n. So I had to make sacrifices for my future." He snapped getting up from his seat and packing his bags.

"I have a perfect idea. Follow me." I grabbed his wrist and my tote, heading out the door with him, the confusion on his face was entertaining.

We hopped on the train and Seungmin had no idea where we were going. Stop after stop was full of questions and complaints and protests. I refuse to answer his questions. Instead I reply with a smirk or a small giggle, which would cause him to roll his eyes.

Finally, we made it to our stop.

I pull Seungmin off the train, making him almost lose his backpack. We began to run down the street to an open field. As it was dark the field was lit up with floodlights and the lights from cars passing by. It took Seungmin a moment to realize where we were. It was a baseball diamond.

"Now if I remember correctly, there's usually a bucket of balls and some wooden bats around here somewhere...." I say as I began searching in the dugout.

"Why did you take me here? I told you I am not allowed to play baseball." He kept his voice low, as if his parents were around to hear.

"I have been friends with you for 15 years. And all that time, I have never seen you play or even knew you liked baseball. Which, by the way, makes me feel like a crappy friend. So, as your friend I demand I see you in action. If you said you wanted to be a professional, clearly, you're good." I point out finally finding the gear needed.

"Fine. One throw. But that’s it." He said sternly, readying his stance with the bat in hand after throwing off his sweater.

I threw the ball once, completely missing the target which made both of us laugh. It took a few tries, but finally after a while, (and some help from Seungmin) I got it.

Tonk, the sound of the bat rang and the ball landed somewhere in the surrounding trees. My jaw dropped. He was that good? I threw another. Same thing, ball completely out of the park.

How could my best friend not tell me about this?

"Oh my God. Seungmin. You're amazing." I praises as I made my way over to him."You know, you shouldn't listen to your parents, you could have a real future in this."I began to tickle him, forcing a smile on his broody lips.

The laughing fit eventually died down as his glasses fell off.

You know those movies where the nerdy guy who is studying to be a dentist looks like he has no shot with the ladies because he's always wearing an oversized hoodie and glasses, takes them off and shows his true passion and suddenly looks sexy and total boyfriend material? Yeah. That's right now.

We made eye contact, and my heart began fluttering.

This feeling is stupid. This kid ate worms and sand and now I wanna kiss him? He's my best friend.

So suddenly he became this super smart athletic dude and he became my type.

Apparently.

We continued staring until it felt way too awkward to continue. We blushed and looked away like 14 year olds having their first crush. As cheesy as it sounds it was how it felt. Like a first genuine crush. The atmosphere suddenly felt uncomfortable, so Seungmin handed me the bat.

"Your turn to the bases." He winked and collected a ball in his hands while handing me a bat suitable for my size.

"Alright, go easy on me." I laughed, assuming a stance close to the one Seungmin was doing, hopefully.

He began throwing the ball. I barely hit it to the far bases, which made him roll his eyes at me playfully. I don't, something about seeing him do the things he loves really brings out an attractive side of him.

"So I invited you to study not only to help me understand chemistry, but also to tell you something big. Jeongin was there as moral support, but since he's a baby himself, he didn't help in the slightest." He rambled while throwing the ball for me and retrieving it from the field. "I actually called you over to tell you I've developed a crush on you. I understand we've been friends for a while so that's why my nerves were so high, but I just had to say it." He sped up, panicking.

Thwack.

The sound of the bat and it hit the ball all the way to the fence. My heart wasn't in my chest anymore. It was in my throat. I couldn't find words. I panicked and said the first thing that popped in my head as an answer.

"Cool, I guess."

Fuck y/n. Your best friend, who treats you like gold and has the same level of savage and sarcastic comebacks as you, manages to confess his feelings for you and all you can say is "cool I guess?" Fuck you're dumb.

Suddenly, he looked upset walking over to the dugout to grab his things, feeling very uncomfortable. He was about to say his goodbyes, probably hoping we would forget this ever happened. Then the courage hit me. I skipped over and did the unexpected. I kissed him. On the cheek of course, but it was enough to show my crush through. Both of his big tomato faces.

"I like you too, Seungmin,." Say softly."Do you maybe wanna go to a game sometime? Maybe as a date?" I replied with confidence.

A huge grin was plastered on both of our faces as we looked at each other. At what was gonna happen. We were gonna try dating. Wow.

He ruffled his straight black bangs and shoved them back a bit to get them out of his face. "You've got game. Well not baseball. You kinda suck at that. " He remarked, adding a wink.

"Wow, way to ruin the moment Min." I remark smiling, slapping his arm while putting away the equipment for the game.

"You wanna get ice cream?" I ask, making my eyes as cute and big as possible as I swung our intertwined hands.

"Fuck yeah. Ice cream, here we come Seungmin answered, now pulling you to the nearest shop.
