"It's a beautiful day out, isn't it Azazel?" Allison says to me, looking up at the sun from our bedroom window. "Yes Allison, its very nice out." I reply quietly, my eyes still on my book. She turns around and puts on her angry face. Oh no, I'm caught. "You didn't even look big brother." She glares at me and I can't help but smile and we both start to giggle. "Do you want to go outside sis?" She nods and jumps up, running out the door. I set down my book and started to to put my shoes on. Alison ran out without her shoes again. She's always so excited to play that she just goes. I grab her shoes, close the curtains, and turn off the light. A chill runs down my back as I stare in my dark room. I close the door quickly as my heart beats in my head. I run down stairs quickly and out the door. I hate the dark so much. I'm not scared of it, or what could be there. I'm just scared of what isn't there, there is always room for something there in the empty space so why isn't there. It always feels like something should be there ... Like I should be there.
"Big brother hurry up!" Alison's yell brings my to my senses and I start walking out to her and hand give her the shoes. "You left these." I said quietly "Thank you Azazel." She hugs me tightly before running off into the large, open back yard. As it gets darker we make our way back to the porch. "What do you think dad will make for dinner? Hopefully bacon." She says "We can't just eat bacon Alison, no matter how much you want it." I said looking down at her siting on the patio steps. "His food is always good so it doesn't have to be just bacon. As long as its not peas and carrots." She made a face of disgust before smiling at me. I'm smile with her before we both look out at the sun setting over the forest, as the shadows of the trees slowly crawl to us. Alison gets up and goes inside to clean up before dinner, I watch the darkness of the forest slowly lick the feet of my porch. The wind blows softly through the air as the darkness calls my name.
