Chapter 1 - Karaoke

I sat in my 4th-period classroom seat and waited for class to start. My head was resting on my hands and my eyes were half-closed. I was in there for the last half of an hour because I'd gotten myself 30-minute lunch detention for insulting my history teacher. He got pretty offended by my comment.

The students started coming into the classroom from lunch. I saw my best friend, Everleigh Sampson walk into the class. She saw me already sitting in my seat and rolled her eyes, and there was a good reason too, it was my 4th detention this week and it was only Wednesday.

Everleigh took the long route to her seat so she passed by me. When she did she placed a note on my desk and winked at me. I raised my eyebrow at her and opened the note.

We all are hanging out at Mike's Karaoke today after school today. U better come, or else Imma drag you there.

P.S A.J is gonna be there too, so I'm gonna wear my heels. Plz, bring ur bandages with u. Thanks! U r the best! ; )

I sighed and stuffed the note in my bag. Then I looked at her, who seemed to be staring at me waiting for an answer. I put a finger under my right eye and pulled it down, then I stuck my tongue out and looked up. It meant, 'I am not coming!'

She looked at me annoyed and pulled out her phone and pointed at it so that I would pull out mine. I did and she immediately texted me in all caps.

'Y WON'T U COME!????'

'Idk, I don't feel like coming'

'PLZ! I need u as emotional support for me cuz I'll see AJ there with his new girlfriend'

'do u really need me to be there?'

'YES!'

'fine. Only if u treat me to sushi this weekend'

'DEAL! I will see u there!'

'K. BYE.'

I sighed in disbelief. Am I really gonna go to this for sushi? I thought. Yeah, I am. Ugh.

Little did I know back then, that this day would change my life forever.
