FALLEN STARS
VOLUME i
. ‧₊˚ My Friend, the Stars . ‧₊˚

ZAFIRA KAI HAS BEEN enamored with the universe ever since she was a little girl. Born to an astronomer and an artist, Zafira has spent her life seeking virtue from the sky. From fables of people who conquered planetary systems to murals of the Milky Way on her ceiling, nothing comes close to expanse of vastness above her. Time and time again, Zafira has looked for the moon and the sun and the stars for guidance during her darkest hours. In a world that constantly turns, in a world that is never the same, the stars have been a companion for every milestone. For every tear that's been shed, the stars have blinked in consolation. For every celebration spent, the stars have sparkled in congratulations. No matter what she's doing or where she is, the stars are always there. Never moving, never fading.

Yet, nothing is everlasting and whatever solace Zafira wished to seek sinks into the soil. A casket, a body and a dying heart was all it took to send the galaxies shattering.

Perhaps in the face of tragedy, mere specks of space gas no longer suffice. Perhaps in the face of adversity, when all the luster that shone them fades away, they become nothing more than meaningless dots. All beauty is lost once the beholder grows dim-sighted.

There's not much to say beyond that. There are the stars and there is Zafira; connected by soul, separated by distance. One day, when all is well again, she may return. To the sky, and the moon, and its little stars, she may return once again.

One day.

"The stars are your anchor, my ruby. Look up and they will ground you when nothing else can."
—  Jalal Kai
