Earth 2
It is morning. Sunlight leaks through the windows. It is breathtaking. Where is he? What is he doing here? But most importantly, who is he?
He has no recollection of how he came to be. Panic rises in his chest. He knows how people are made. He knows he's in a room. He can see a clock. It says it is 7 in the morning. It is a beautiful clock. His anxiety is allayed for a moment. Then the questions start again.
Why is he here? What is his name? He should have one. He looks around and sees a cell phone on his nightstand. A cell phone, good. He looks through the gallery first. It is occupied with photos of one man. In all the slides, he is scowling at the camera. This must be his best friend. Perhaps he is his brother. Or—he gasps and feels a blush rise to his cheeks—his boyfriend?
Where does he begin to look? He should start with his name. He explores the house he believes is his home. It is not hard to find a name. In one room are so many presents addressed to a New. And a NewSingto. Is he New or NewSingto? He goes back to his phone. He should have friends. From his call log, he sees one frequent caller. Tay 👹
The face attached to the contact information is the same as the frowning man in his gallery. He calls the number.
"Thitipoom," the man grouses. He sounds like he has just woken up. "It's not even fucking 8 yet. We're meeting Off at 12."
"Are you my—," he feels his face coloring again. "Boyfriend?"
A heavy sigh is made from the other side of the phone. "Again?"
He does not understand what the man means. But he sounds like they know each other. He should be able to get him some help. "I think I need some help. Please help me."
The man grunts. New envisions him rising from his bed. "Where are you now?"
"In my room, I think. I—I don't remember anything."
"Don't move. I'm on my way."

The man, Tay Tawan, tells him he is New Thitipoom Techaapaikhun. He claims to be New's husband and has their honeymoon photos to show for it. He blushes when he sees their intimate photos. It feels strange to have done these things with someone he just met for the first time. His husband claims to be an astronaut, a famous astronaut. New is impressed with himself. He is married to a handsome astronaut.
"Famous. Famous handsome astronaut," His husband amends when he shares his thoughts out loud.
His famous handsome astronaut husband makes his breakfast. It tastes horrible but he does not want to hurt his feelings. This man is a stranger to him now but he knows he cares deeply for him.
"Thanks for the food. I love it." He lies. Smiles.
Tay smiles back. He scooches down and holds New's eyes. "And me?"
"I Uh—," he stumbles over the words. "I love you?" It doesn't feel weird to say it out loud. If anything, it is the only thing that has felt right since he woke up. They must have done this many times. "I love you, Tay Tawan." He says with more conviction.
His husband laughs. Rubs his head. He glances at his wristwatch. "We have about 30 minutes more, Thitipoom. Go sleep it off." He kisses the side of his head. "Everything will be okay when you wake up."

New is more than rankled when he wakes up. He marches to the living room where he knows Tay is waiting. Evil fucking Tawan. Astronaut? Husband? Pfttt! How dare he reveal photos of him and Thitipoom doing those things? They are now embedded in his mind forever. He shudders.
Since the start of August, New wakes up with no episodic memories on some mornings. Luckily, it takes 2 hours to regain them.
The first time it happened, he went through his phone log and called the last person he spoke to. Tay 👹. Tay was just as unnerved as him the first time. They were on the way to the hospital when his memories returned. The second time, he was still worried but less so.
The third time, he started to play around. He told New he was his long lost brother who had just reconnected and needed a kidney. New had been disappointed. He thought they were boyfriends. The fourth time he said he was his parole officer and New was a notorious drug dealer on house arrest. And now, his astronaut husband. Point of correction, his famous handsome astronaut husband.
"Are you insane?" He barks.
"Yep, he is back." Tay closes the magazine he was reading and reclines back on the sofa. "I like you better when you know nothing and hang on to everything I tell you."
New rests his hands on his waist. He remembers those two seconds when Tay leaned down and he thought the man was going to kiss him. He scoffs. "Husband, who would marry you?"
"You, it seems. You've lost your memories five times and all five of them, the first thing you asked when I picked up was if we were boyfriends."
"That is no excuse. You can't blame me for what I do or say in that state."
"Okay, perhaps husband was too much. I'll just go with boyfriend next time." He picks the magazine back up. Winks. "Stick to the script, you know."
Tay Tawan is not a pleasant person. He should not be flustered by him this much. "You're a bad man. Also, I didn't need to see those photos of Thitipoom."
He peeks over the magazine. "Do you not know what your ass looks like?"
New jerks his head back. His neck almost detaches from his head. He remembers Thitipoom bare assed and smiling over his shoulders at the camera. "You dirty man."
"I'm just saying."
Tay and Thitipoom in the bathtub. His face burns. "Weirdo."
"A weirdo you love?" He picks up his phone and holds it up. He grins. Taps the screen. "I love you?" New's voice plays back. Small. Uncertain. "I love you, Tay Tawan."
New leaps at it.
Tay holds his phone up as New swats at the air to grab it. "We're too old for these games, Thitipoom."
"Give me it." New climbs onto the couch. He rests his knees on Tay's chest and makes an ambitious swipe at the phone. His knees slip on the cotton shirt. Threshing hands grab onto Tay's shoulders as he goes down, landing right in his laps.
The shock renders them silent. They look at each other for a charged moment. Then Tay smiles. His left hand comes around New's waist. "Now we are getting somewhere, boyfriend."
New scrambles off his laps. "You're a terrible man." He doesn't speak to Tay until they leave the house at 12.

Meanwhile on Earth 1
It has happened again.
It was the visions at first and now memory loss. He knows it is time. His days on this earth are numbered.
How he will miss them. He is glad for them. He has had great memories here. The earth where strangers love him more than the people he knows back home. On this earth, he was bestowed upon the best birthday in years.
He witnessed Tawan's birthday. Up close. Held his cake. Smiled as he blew on it. Hugged him. He didn't want to let go. Tawan, it seemed, also didn't want to let go.
Sadly, it is time to. Let go. He doesn't know how or when it will happen. But soon, he will be transported back home. Is it really home when he dreads going back? Is it home when he does not feel welcomed?
"I don't want my Thitipoom back."
Thitipoom doesn't want to go back either. However, he has no say in this. At least he knows what love looks like now.
And if he wants to have that love in every way possible, the time to make a move is now. He has no time to play it safe.
