As the two girls got home from school, they went inside Riley's room to chill out. Riley decided to put on some music. They listened to all sorts of music groups such as The Smashing Pumpkins, Green Day, and Alice In Chains.
"Yo do you have any Kurt Cobain we can listen to?" Ashley asked.
"Who? Never heard of him." Riley answered.
"What?! Are you crazy? How have you not heard of Kurt Cobain?" Ashley asked in shock.
Riley said, "I don't know I've just never heard of them, are they any good?"
Ashley said nothing while she reached for her backpack and pulled out a record entitled "Nirvana : Nevermind"
As she put the record on the record player, a song began to play. As the chorus began, the lyrics sang
"With the lights out, it's less dangerous! Here we are now, entertain us! I feel stupid, and contagious! Here we are now, entertain us!"
When the song was over, Ashley asked her, "So did you like it?"
"The sound of Kurt's raspy, amazing voice travelled through my ears, and automatically, I fell in love with the group called Nirvana." Riley said in her head.
"If you liked that song, then trying listening to songs like Come As You Are, Polly, Something In The Way, Drain You, or even On A Plain." Ashley told her in an excited voice.
"You see, whenever I'm upset about something and I need something to take my mind off of whatever is bothering me, I just put on a Nirvana album, and somehow all my problems seem to go away. It may sound dumb, but it really does help. So maybe whenever you feel down, I'll let you borrow my record. Take my advice alright kid?" Ashley said.
Riley just smiled happily at her best friend, nodded her head, and said, "Thanks for the advice Ash, hopefully it helps. I'll see you tomorrow at school, or should I say hell."

Once Ashely had left that night, Riley was still singing the song "Smells Like Teen Spirit" in her head. She had fallen for Kurt Cobain, and although she had just started listening to this new band, she knew that there was something about them that she loved.
