It was the year 1991, March 23rd to be exact. The school day was almost complete and Riley Thompson was excited to get out of the hell hole that you call school.
"When does the damn bell ring again?" she said in frustration.
Her close friend, Ashley Hartman, replied with, "Only 15 more minutes, and then we get to leave this prison."Riley and Ashley had known each other since they were about 3 years old, and they've been best friends ever since. They would have sleepovers every weekend, eat junk food and watch scary movies all night. Ashley was "Riley's sister that she never had" as they would say. It seemed like nothing could split the two apart.
As the bell rang and the two girls were walking through the halls in their matching flannel shirts and shiny black doc martens, they could hear people say things to them like;"Look at those freaks"
"Ugly sluts"
"They don't even know how to dress themselves"
"No wonder why they can't get a guy"
"They're such weirdos"Ashley could tell by the look on Riley's face that she was hurt by what they had said to her. "Don't listen to those assholes okay Riley?" Riley just stared at her with a sad look on her face. "Riley, are you okay?"
Riley looked at her best friend and replied, "Don't worry, I'm used to it anyway."
