3rd person pov:

Kaya woke up early, Dawn still in her arms. She looked ten times more peaceful when asleep. Kaya missed seeing her like that. She studied the sleeping girl's face for a few more minutes, memorising every single part of her. She slowly fell asleep again, the only thing on her mind was Dawn.

Two small girls were at a beach, they were both dressed in the same uniform type clothes. The oldest one was standing in front of the younger black haired girl. She held out her hand and offered it to the small girl. "Hey...I'm Kayoko. You okay?"

The corners of the brown haired girl's eyes crinkled as she smiled down at the other. The smaller of the two grabbed Kayoko's hand and pulled herself up. "Uhh. Hi. I'm Sae-byeok. You're name...it's not korean."

Kayoko rubbed the back of her neck and her smile faded slightly. "No. I'm Japanese."

"Oh...Ok. My parents won't like you.", The black haired girl smiled back though. She seemed at ease. Even when, moments earlier, she fell down and scraped her knee. The 6 year old seemed oblivious to the blood now caked on her injury. "Thanks for helping."

"Yeah! No problem.", The 7 year old answered back. "I guess I'll see you around?"

"Definitely."

"Kay bye...Dawn"

Sae-byeok grinned widely and turned on her heel and walked back the way she came from, shouting a 'See you, Kai!' over her shoulder. Unbeknownst to them...that was the start of a very beautiful relationship.

Months after their first meeting, the two girls were seen at the same spot of said meeting. Both were stretched out across the sand on their backs, hands intertwined. The full moon glowed above them, setting a peaceful mood.

"Hey, Kai...what does your name mean? I've been wondering for a while now."

The light haired girl turned her head to gaze at the younger. Her eyes lit up in the bright glow the moon gave off. "Oh...Secrets or, well, one full of secrets."

"That...really suits you."

That confused Kaya, how could that be a good thing? That made her sound like a liar. "Why?"

"Well, you are my secret. And...this could be ours."

Before Kaya could ask what Sae-byeok meant by that, she felt soft lips on hers. That confused her more. She pulled away quickly."Woah...you kissed me. Uhh."

"Yeah. I saw my parents kissing. They said you kiss the ones you love so...I wanted to."

Kayoko turned her head back to the stars, contemplating what to say back. Her parents had always taught her that boys kiss girls and vise versa. They never said anything about two girls...was it wrong? No. It can't be. Why would it be?

"I love you too.", Kaya smiled, she realised that it was true. She meant what she said and even though she was young, she understood what that meant. She didn't entirely understand the feeling but she thinks it's love. If it wasn't...what was love?

The two girls moved closer and continued star gazing, they were content.

———

Two years after the girls' first meeting, they were sitting at school. Lunch had just begun and they sat at a table in the corner on the cafeteria.

Sae-byeok's parents had been having troubles lately and today was her 8th birthday. Kaya was thinking of a way to help her feel better when she spoke.
