They talked for quite a while longer. The sun was setting, making way for a bright full moon in the sky. Neither of them wanted to leave, but although the cell phone is a very useful invention, it is also sometimes very inconvenient.
* My shadow's the only one that walks beside me. ... My shallow heart's the only thing that's beating. ... Sometimes I wish someone out there will find me. ... 'Til then I walk alone. *
Alexander takes the cell phone out of his pocket and takes a look at the screen.
Alexander: I'm sorry, but I have to take this.
Matt: Sure. No problem.
He presses the button and holds the phone to his ear.
Alexander: What do you want, Izzy? ... What? How is that possible? ... What time is it?
Alexander looks around and at the clock and his eyes widen!
Alexander: What time did it get dark? I didn't notice that at all! ... That's none of your business! ... Okay, I'm coming! ... Ten minutes and I'll be there. ... Tell Jace to shut the fuck up! ... I said I'm coming, goddamn it!
He ends the call and puts the phone back in his pocket.
Alexander: I'm sorry about that. Family Obligations.
Matt: You have to go now, right?
Alexander: Yes, unfortunately.
A shadow darkens Matt's face. He lowers his head and whispers.
Matt: All good things must come to an end.
Alexander: Who says it's the end? If you really don't want it to end, nothing is ending.
Matt looks up at Alexander with hopeful eyes.
Matt: Really?
Alexander: It's up to us.
Alexander looks at his watch and stands up.
Alexander: I really have to get going. Do you need me to give you a ride?
Matt: That's all right. My place is not far from here. I'll just walk.
Alexander: Are you sure?
Matt: Yeah. I need to feel the wind.
Alexander: Alright.
While Alexander is putting on his coat, Matt is looking for a way to ask him for his number or even give him his own, but it was not even necessary. Alexander leaves something on the table.
Alexander: Here is my card. Take it and do what you think is best. Goodbye, Matt.
With nothing more to say, he turns on his heel and heads for the door with Matt following him with his eyes.
Matt: Come on, Alex. Turn around and look at me.
Alexander reaches the door, but before he opens it, he turns his head and winks. Once Alex is gone, Matt picks up the card and as he reads it, his eyes widen tremendously.
Matt: You have got to be kidding me!
