Waking up when the sun rises is the best time, especially when your stolen dog is back home where he should be. Sitting up in bed I let out a long and well-needed stretch, my head slightly spinning due to my few sips of alcohol last night. Chewie lets out a huff before getting off of my bed and doing his own big stretches. Of course, I follow up with an "oooo big stretch."
Walking out of my bedroom I head into my kitchen, placing toast in the toaster. Seems like butter and toast kinda day before I head to school, maybe even a granola bar if I am feeling frisky. Chewie soon finds himself next to me, staring up at me.
"Where were you buddy?" I ask, crouching down to his level.
A knock at the door startles me, soon the toaster following the jumpscare. I give the toasted the meanest look as I head to the front door, finding Sidney and Tatum both staring back at me. Their happy and fun demeanor changed from the last time I saw them.
"With the whole killings last night the police department closed down the school," Tatum starts. "There is also a curfew for 8 pm."
"Wow, it's like 7 in the morning. How much did I miss?" I ask.
"Well, a lot I guess. So we were wondering if you were willing to let us stay over for a while? It is safer for all of us, also since your dog was well taken from you."
"About that......"
My eyes met Sidneys as she curls her eyebrows up in confusion. Sighing I open my front door wider for the girls to notice the furball in the kitchen, he was still in there probably wanting to eat. Sidney was the first one to enter my house, her arms instantly wrapping around Chewie.
"Where did he come from?" She asks as she buries her head into Chewie's neck. "We thought you were dead buddy."
"He sort of just showed up early this morning. Woke up to him cuddling me," I shrug.
Tatum enters and leaves to another room, probably looking around for any sign of a break-in. Maybe I should have done that this morning when I found Chewie, but I guess I was too fazed by him alive and back with me. Shutting the door, I instantly relock it. Not wanting any more uninvited guests. Unless they bring gifts, like Chewie my little miracle gift.
Did I even lock my door last night? In the haze of the alcohol was I too focused on something else to even check for my safety? For Pete's sake, there is a killer walking around like he owns the place, how foolish of me.
"Well," Tatum says as she reenters. "No sign of any broken windows, which makes this harder. The only thing I did find was Chewies collar, which you probably already had in your possession."
"Correct," I nod.
"Well good. I'm glad we can be together for each other. We only trust each other, the girls gotta stick together through these horrible times."
"And Chewie!" Sidney speaks up.
"Yeah, sorry. Us gals and Chewie have to stick together. Got it (Y/n)?"
"Oh yes, ma'am!"
"Perfect, I am going to go grab our bags! We didn't bring THAT much stuff by the way."
Tatum leaves Sidney and I alone. While she was gone I go up to my toast, seeing that it wasn't even warm anymore. Sighing I just munch on the piece of bread, tossing the other one to Chewie. Sidney gets up from the floor, getting close to me, "You might be in danger. It just doesn't make sense."
"What?" I ask.
"Ghostface doesn't do that." She motions over to Chewie. "He only leaves trails of blood, killing innocent people without a care in the world. So why now, why now that you entered town?"
"Come on Sidney, you wouldn't kill a face like that. Look at him."
She turns to look at Chewie, his button nose and round eyes stare back at her. At the attention his tail waves, excitement coming to his eyes. Sidney lets out a sigh, "I just don't know what's happening. You sware that you know nothing? That you didn't know there was a killer loose in this town?"
"I'm kinda hurt that you think that about me. No, I didn't have any idea anything like this is going on. My dog was kidnapped, why would I let something like that happen if I knew about it? I thought he was dead, my only family here was dead. Why in the world would I play that card, it is cruel to me and him."
We sit in silence as she thinks, "I'm sorry (y/n). It's just I've been so stressed lately. I can't sleep, I can't eat. My boyfriend sorta dumped me last night. There is a killer loose in my town, schoo-"
"You have every right to be stressed. Nobody should be going through this right now, it isn't right. Just remember what Tatum said 'us gals and Chewie have to stick together'. That's all we need right now. Focus on each other and we can get by."
"I'm sorry for blaming you about the killer, i-"
"No more apologies, got it?"
She stares at me, tears almost coming from her eyes. That was until Tatum came back inside, her arms filled with pillows and bags. "Thanks, guys for the help." She jokes as she drops everything in the living room. Chewie sniffs around the new items in the room, his tail wagging with excitement.
"Sorry, Tatum. You hungry?" I ask, lighting up the mood.
"Sure!" She smiles. "I could eat."
