Guilt !

Rohit and everyone came after completing practice session and freshening up. They went to Virat's room and saw Mahi and Virat talking among themselves.

Rishabh went towards Virat and sat beside him.
"How was the practice Rishu ?" Asked Virat ever so lovingly ruffling his hair.

Rohit and others got tensed hearing that. They thought that Rishabh would say whatever happened out there. If that happens it would really upset Virat.

"It was good. Had some batting drill today with Bhuvi bhaiya. And some warm up sessions" said Rishabh normally hiding everything else what had happened.

Rohit felt so proud of Rishabh now for understanding what to say right now.

"Did u have your medicines Vi for the injuries?"asked Rohit.

"Yes I had" replied Virat.

"What about ur meeting Ro ? How it went ?" Asked Mahi curiously.

"Same usual bhai. Some irritating discussions" said Rohit remembering the encounter with the selector.

"I am really hungry right now. So if u are finished with your enquiring sessions then please let's eat" said Jaddu annoyed with the discussion.

"Why are u always hungry Jaddu ?" Asked Ash

"What do u mean ? We had such tiring session and now u don't want me to eat. Why are u so cruel to me? What have I even done to you ?" Asked Jaddu in his dramatic self.

Everyone just laughed at that and Ash rolled his eyes at that drama. They had dinner chitchatting among themselves.

After dinner Rishabh just hugged Virat and sat beside him. Bhuvi was replacing Virat's bandage on his leg carefully and slowly not wanting to hurt him.

Rishabh was distracting Virat by his talking so that Virat's attention does not go to the wounds.

"Jaddu pass me the spray" said bhuvi. Bhuvi did everything carefully. Virat was just wondering how he got so lucky to have all of them.

"Rishabh are u okay do u have headache?" Asked Virat but he didn't get any answer. He saw Rishabh was dozed off on his shoulder clutching to his arm.

Everyone smiled seeing that. Virat tried to make him sleep properly but he just mumbled - "Bhai don't go". Virat just sat there till he gets in deep sleep.

"You all also should sleep. You have match tomorrow." Said Mahi

"But I have a condition." Said Rohit

"What condition ?" Asked Virat patting Rishabh's head.

"If u and bhai will be coming to dressing room. Then only I am gonna go to the ground and play tomorrow" said Rohit stubbornly.

"I don't think that is good idea Ro" said Virat hesitantly not wanting to go.

"Please Vi ! I cannot do this without you. I cannot go out there" said Rohit requesting him.

"Okay let's do one thing. We will come for sometime but not for the whole match. It will take time and Virat will need rest" said Mahi sensibly not wanting to upset any of them.

"Is that okay with u Cheeku ?" Asked Mahi softly to Virat who was thinking something.

"Will u be there with me bhai ?" Asked Virat not wanting to be alone there.

"Ofcourse I will come with u." Said Mahi softly.

"Okay we will come Ro" said Virat assuring Rohit in response to that Rohit just hugged him.

"Okay now everyone go to sleep" said Mahi sternly.

On the other side -

Jassi was freshened up after the practice session. He was going in the dining hall for dinner.

When he crossed the meeting room he heard someone saying something about Virat and Rohit.

"Finally we succeeded in our plan. Rohit is the captain now. We may face some difficulties because he is also like Virat backing players. But I think handling him will be easy than Virat. Took so much efforts to do this"

Jassi felt as if someone has just splashed cold water on his face giving him reality check. He just ran to his room and locked himself. The dinner was long forgotten.

He just slumped down crying realising what had he done. He had accused his Virat bhaiya. How could he do that to the person who was always there by my side.

He just thrashed everything in anger. The guilt of what he did was so heavy. He could literally feel it. He could never get out of this guilt.

"How could I do this ? How could I doubt my Virat bhaiya ? How could I believe some fake news over him? He was looking at me with so much hope that I will believe him but what I did. I just crushed all his hopes down. His Jassi which Virat always boasted so proudly let him down."

He just couldn't get any sleep after that. Whole night he kept thinking what had he done. How will he face his Rohit bhaiya ? He will be so disgusted and disappointed with him. What will he do now ?

Next morning -

Everyone was in the lobby ready to leave for the ground. Everyone was waiting for Jassi who didn't arrive yet.

"Where is Jasprit ?" Asked Rohit in a captain tone to Rahul and Hardik.

"We don't know. We haven't seen him after practice yesterday" said Hardik.

Rohit tried calling him but phone was not reachable. Just then he was about to go to check on him Jassi arrived running in the lobby.

"Sorry I am late" he said panting as he ran so fast. He just said to no one in particular not meeting Rohit's eyes.

Rohit noticed his demeanour. He was looking really pale. He had bags under his eyes which very red and puffy. He so wanted to ask him what had happened but decided against it.

"Virat and Mahi bhai will be coming to the dressing room in sometime. I don't want anything rubbish been said there. Am I clear ?" Said Rohit particularly to KL, Hardik and Jassi.

Jassi just felt like a failure to his Rohit bhaiya as he said those words. Jassi just nodded and went to sit in the bus. He just took last second seat and sat there closing his eyes.

Rohit observed it and was trying to figure out what had happened. He was okay at practice what had suddenly happened to Jassi being so stressed.

They arrived at the ground. Rohit had won the toss and they were gonna bowl first. It was the first t20 match against WI of the tri match series.

Virat and Mahi arrived in dressing room. Rishabh and seniors hugged them. "Ready for the match bacha?" Asked Virat lovingly to Rishabh in slow voice. Rishabh replied - "Yes bhai"

But as Jassi was near them he heard that. He was longing for that care and love. But he knew now he didn't deserve it.
