It was the quietest car ride they had ever had. Boyoung had left her car in the office while Inguk was driving them back to the Villa. None of them spoke of anything. But the silence didn't feel awkward this time. They just couldn't understand how to break the ice. They had been best friends for almost two years and it was the first time they had openly expressed their feelings for each other. Whether to treat each other as lovers now or talk casually as best friends, that made them remain quiet for the rest of their ride.
On reaching home, they stole glances at each other with a forced smile while walking inside. Boyoung coughed as she climbed the stairs to her room while Inguk followed her.
She stopped in front of her room and hesitantly looked at Inguk who stood at a distance. He tried to avoid looking into her eyes and stood stiff with his hands in his pockets. It hadn't been awkward all this while, but being in the same house, standing next to her room gave him chills.
"Umm, Good night," he said gasping for air without looking at her.
Boyoung gulped in, fearing that Inguk might still be in denial of his feelings. She opened her mouth to say something but stopped. Inguk noticed that she had suddenly become concerned and worried about something and it wasn't tough to guess what.
But he wasn't going to disappoint her this time. When she quietly turned around to enter her room, he called out to her.
"Boyoung,"
She turned to face him and found that he had walked closer to her.
"Yes?" she asked looking up at him.
"I- wanted to tell you that, umm" he hesitated to speak, the denial he had been living for so long was still trying to pull him back.
"Hmm?" she asked with wide eyes, filled with hope.
He found himself unable to deny his feelings any longer. There was no way he was staying quiet anymore, even if he felt insecure about losing her someday.
"Whatever I said and did earlier... in your cabin " he gulped in. "I mean it "
"You do?" she said with a smile slowly cropping up on her face.
"Yes, I like you more than a friend" he spoke searching for any doubts on her face.
She pursed her lips trying not to blush and looked away. Inguk got nervous when he couldn't read her expressions.
"Are you okay with it?" he asked gulping in.
"Well," she said smiling. "I kissed you back, why wouldn't I be okay with it?" she shrugged and immediately felt embarrassed for mentioning the kiss at that moment.
Inguk looked down and smiled as his cheeks turned pink. They didn't say anything for a few seconds before Inguk decided that he should leave.
"I'll go now, I have plans with Soohyun tomorrow morning since it's our day off" he informed.
"Oh, I see" Boyoung sighed as they finally talked about something normal.
"Yes, have a good night," he said with a shrug and took a step away.
"Oppa," Boyoung called out and held his wrist.
"Hmm?"
Boyoung sighed and took a step forward. Inguk raised his brow and smiled at her.
She stood on her toes to reach his height and sealed his lips with hers. She closed her eyes and kept her lips on his for a few seconds and just when Inguk realized that she was kissing him, she broke apart.
