Ran had returned home after a week of being monitored in the hospital, Sunni being sure to have all his favorite foods stalked up in the house and making sure her bed was clean and comfortable for him.
Rin had to temporarily assume the highest position in Bonten in Ran's place, so he hadn't been home as often.

Ever since what happened with Ran, Sunni had been on edge with the brothers being in a gang. Anytime Rindo wouldn't come home she stayed up until he sent her an update of where he was or what he was doing.

"Rin will not end up how I did Birdie. I promise he isn't as blind as I can be. Also, I am no longer present for the time being so he is more focused on self preservation."
Ran pulled on Sunni's hair lightly as she store out the window on the wall side of their bed. His eyes trailing about her body—trying to read her.

"I just don't want you two to do this anymore.."
Sunni glanced over at Ran, her eyes glued to the stitching on his wound.
"You could have died. I don't want that for either of you."

"We both understand that, though we have been doing this for years. We have practically been through it all, seen it all too Birdie, trust us."

"I did...and this is what happened. The moment either of you get hurt again you either both walk out of my life or you quite this stupid gang lifestyle and just...stay with me.."
Sunni turned her body to face Ran, he was silent in thought.
"You and Rin emphasize on keeping me safe, so why can't I protect you two too? I don't think you understand that my fear for you two's lives will always be far greater then your fears for me because I don't put myself in stupid situations that could get me killed."

"I'm sorry."
Ran apologized and then went silent again, Sunni watching him intently, she wanted to say more, but she bit her tongue. She shouldn't start an argument.

They all knew they would be way better off without each other. The stress of worrying over those who act stupidly—and those who are responsible and set high expectations. A relationship between those two types is exhausting. It isn't good for either party.
But they persist.
Simply because opposites attract.

"I just want to keep you and Rin in a bubble.."
Sunni yawned, stretching before laying down, facing Ran who also sunk further into the sheets, they looked at each other.
Ran reached out a hand and brushed Sunni's bangs back,

"One day Rin and I will cause you no more stress and will make sure you only experience the happiest memories..just please be patient with us a little while longer."

"How much longer?"
Her eyelids got heavy, slowly shutting as she awaited his words.

"I don't know, but I will let you know when we are getting close."

Rin hadn't contacted Sunni in three days. Her anxiety through the roof, she was on edge and flinched at every siren she heard outside.
She paced and picked at the pass of her fingertips. She would chew on her gums as she watched the news.
Ran watched her slowly deteriorate in sad silence, she had been pushing him away the more time Rin wouldn't communicate to her that he was okay.

"I will go look for him."
Ran finally decided as he watched the girl on the couch, legs folded into her chest as she watched the TV.

"Don't leave me.."
She whispered, her eyes blurring with tears as she desperately got up, hugging her arms around Ran.
"Don't go too.."

The brothers were leading her to ruin. Ran felt something deep within him that just wanted to rip the bandage off and disappear for her own good.
Though it was far too late, all three were in too deep to leave now. They were trapped in a vicious cycle of dismay.

"I will be back, I promise Birdie..I just want to bring Rin home so you can be back to normal. I'm worried about you."

"Don't go..I know he will text me. I know he will come back. Just don't disappear too. I cant bare it.."
She shook her head, tears stained his white shirt, he caressed her head with a gentle touch, then he pressed his lips to the top of her golden hair.

"We can wait a few more days then..just try not to think of the worst Birdie. Rin is strong. He will come back."

"I know he will...he just needs to hurry up. I feel like I'm going to fall apart."
Sunni sniffled, covering her red face as she stepped out of Ran's arms.

"Now let's make dinner together. Turn off the news and put on some music."
Ran smiled at her and left to the kitchen, Sunni doing as he said and trying to forget her terrible thoughts.
