Chapter 3: Home

We sat in the hospital until it got dark. It was silent the whole time. I didnt know what to say, Jon looked like he was about to start crying, and of course Anastasia couldnt talk.

Our mom came and got us. She asked more questions than the police did. After answering questions and talking to her i went to my room.

I asked Anastasia, back at the hospital, if we could visit her after school and she nodded so i took that as a yes.

I went downstairs, ate, then went to bed.

Next day after school

We just got out of school and we are heading to the hospital. On the way there Jon runs of to the Dollar General across the street. I chase after him and he grabs a small Expo board and marker off the shelf and buys it.

"Whats that for?" I ask him.

"So she can answer us and we can both know what she says."

"Good idea."

We arrive at the hospital and we sign in. We walk up there and Jon hands her the board and marker.

'Good afternoon Jonathan and Jason.' She wrote on the board.

"You can call me Jon." He said laughing. She erased and wrote in Jon instead.

"Good afternoon to you too."

'Its so boring in here! Its like being trapped in hell!'

"I know how you feel. I was in here getting stitches on the heel of my foot just a few weeks ago." Jon replies.

"So how have you been today?" I ask awkwardly.

'Good other than im stuck in here.'

I laugh at her true statement.

'I wanna get out of this hell hole. Please help me.'

"Ok let me go ask the doctor then." Jon says getting up and walking out the hospital room.

We sit there in complete silence until Jon comes back into the room.

"They said you could leave but an adult has to watch over you for a week. Do you want me to call your parents?" He asks.

'I dont have parents.'

"Oh. Want to stay at our house?"

'Ill think about it...'

"Ok." I say with a lying smile. I want her to feel safe. No i dont want her to. I need her to. I feel good when she feels safe. I feel like im protecting her from everything in the world thats bad. I feel happy.

We arrived back at my house and convinced Anastasia to stay for at least tonight. Shes going to be sleeping in my room and im going to sleep on the couch.

"Do you want any water or anything?" I ask and she shakes her head 'no' and i nod.

"Well if you need anything let me know. Goodnight."

She does the motion for goodnight and i walk out of the room closing the door and turning off the lights. I grab some blankets out of the hallway closet and head to the living room couch. I then fall asleep playing on my phone.

I wake up and make some coffee. Jon soon comes down and pours him a cup.

"Wheres Anastasia?" He asks.

"Probably still asleep." I answer him before taking a sip of my coffee.

"What about Cameron?" He asks. Cameron is our older sister.

"Went to the store and should be back any minute." I reply.

"Do you think Anastasia wants to go get her clothes, go home, or maybe borrow Cam's clothes?" He asks. I shrug. I hear my door open and see Anastasia with the board and marker in her hand.

"Hey, your awake?" I say and she nods.

"Coffee?" She nods. I pour some in a mug and hand it to her.

As soon as she takes a sip, Cameron bursts through the door.

"Im home!" She screams startling Anastasia.

"Whos this?" Cam asks.

'Im Anastasia but you can call me Ana for short.'

"She will be staying with us for a little while." I tell her.

"Ok. Well im Cameron. You can call me Cam. And, Jonny-boi, Is she one of your 'friends'?" She asks wiggling her eyebrows when she says friends.

Jons face turns bright red and he furiously shakes his head no. Cam laughs.

"Wanna come to my room? I can give u some clothes to borrow and you can take a shower without these pervs being around." She motions to us and laughs. Ana nods her head and her and Cam go upstairs.
