The second time at the Moncreiff residence went a little bit worse.
After lunching with Angelina and Brad, among with some other unexpected guests - Bailey's sister and her husband - Hugo ordered Bailey to go to their bedroom and wait for him there, excused himself and went after her leaving everybody in wonder.
"He's going to kick her again." It was Bailey's husband who dared to say something first.
Megan whispered to him to shut up, but Daniel continued. "Let's hope he doesn't break her neck this time."
Brad and Angelina looked at each other. They connected the dots and realized that was the reason Bailey was in the hospital. They hadn't been provided with any explanation before, from neither Hugo nor Bailey. The truth was they were affraid to even ask.
No one said anything after Daniel stopped making theories about Bailey and Hugo's sudden withdrawal. They just waited for their return and after roughly ten minutes, they came out. Hugo looked bored as usual, but Bailey was smiling.
"Let's go, girls!", Bailey said and winked while Hugo wasn't looking. Angelina and Megan got up from their seats and joined Bailey.
"Come on!", Hugo said, but rather like an obligation than a voluntarily action.
The girls went shopping, the guys climbed an FBI ship, previously owned by an Australian tycoon, now secretly owned by Federal Bureau. The ship was anchored near Hugo's house.
"I like your ship.", Hugo told Brad and it was the first time since they met Brad saw Hugo not be mad or bored. "For how much did they screw you?"
Brad didn't understand. "Who screwed me?"
"The seller. I assume you payed around 20 million for this beast, but let me tell you something. I've been in this job for way to long so you can rely on me for any money investment. Everything you want I can get you for half that price."
Hugo was comfortable with Brad. The final conclusion was that he didn't love his wife and was constantly annoyed while around her. Even Daniel saw good in Hugo. And his newly-discovered attitude made things easier. He started to open up and Brad knew he could manage to get the confession the FBI wanted. It was just the matter of time.
