OMNISCIENT
"Don't pull so hard Sinai, I barely have any left," Naala commented as Sinai brushed her hair for her.
"Sorry." She apologized quickly, "Do you want me to add some oil to it?" She offered,
"Yeah why not?" Naala croaked out, reaching for her water. Sinai watched her, before she couldn't anymore, her hand was shaking so much she couldn't lift the glass.
"Thank you," Naala said when Sinai handed it to her,
"It's okay," She replied quietly, rubbing her shoulder. Sinai picked up the oil and poured some in her hand, massaging it into Naala's scalp.
"It's all gone isn't it?" Naala commented,
"No mama your hair is still the same," Sinai answered, brushing over the bald spots.
"I never thought I would end up like this," Naala coughed slightly, putting the straw to her lips again.
"You're gonna beat this mom," Sinai told her,
"How many people beat cancer?" Naala said tiredly, "It's always there, no matter what I do,"
"The chemo is working, it's getting smaller," Sinai convinced her. The more she said it, the more it felt true to her.
"You know when I go, I don't want you to be sad," Naala said touching her hand,
"Mama stop it," Sinai sighed, "You're not dying," She added,
"Don't lie baby," Naala wheezed coughing once more. Today was a bad day for her, she had chemotherapy earlier on in the day and it had knocked all her energy out.
"I promise you you're not going to die yet," Sinai said to her, "You haven't walked me down the aisle yet,"
"Hm," Naala nodded putting her head against the headboard. Sinai's eyes watered as she looked at her, sick and unenthusiastic.
"You have to walk me down the aisle in a beautiful dress with your hair flowing down your back," Sinai continued,
"Your daddy can do it," Naala added, "He's meant to," She spoke,
"I want both of you to give me away," Sinai wiped her tears, "You both deserve to,"
Naala closed her eyes and breathed out, her chest feeling tight. "Could you get me more water?" She pointed to the glass.
"As long as you promise to stay awake," Sinai touched her hand,
"I'm awake, I'm not going anywhere," Naala said her eyes still firmly shut,
"Just water or anything else?" Sinai offered standing up straight,
"My husband," Naala said tiredly, "I want to cuddle him," She smiled softly,
"You don't want to cuddle me?" Sinai gasped, holding her chest.
"Come here," Naala moved slightly, lifting the comforter as much as she could with her hand.
