After a (not so good) nights rest, I wake up and stretch. Grandpa's old bed sure was rickety; I mean, it was sturdy enough to hold me throughout the night, but, at several different times, I woke up to the creaking of wood. Sadly, I think I'll have to see Robin soon to talk about getting an upgrade, at least for my bed.
Once I'm fully awake, I get out of bed, get changed, and head to my kitchen to get some food. Wait. Where's the kitchen? A sigh escapes my mouth as I realize I won't be able to eat anything this morning, seeing as I don't have a kitchen. I'm just about to leave my little ol' house when I kick some sort of box on the ground. Looking down, I see that it's a wrapped gift from mayor Lewis. Opening the small box, I find fifteen parsnip seeds, and a note that says, "Just a little something to get you started. - Mayor Lewis." Gee, he sure does take his mayor position very seriously.
I pick up the seeds and head outside, grabbing the tools that magically appeared on my porch overnight. Grandpa had taught me how to farm when I came here every once in a while when I was younger, but I'm sure all of those memories have been pushed aside after... everything... that happened.
Racking my brain for even the slightest hint at what to do, I decide to start clearing out all of the weeds, logs, rocks, and maybe even a few trees. At first, even though I hadn't gotten a great nights sleep, I felt like I had a lot of energy in me. I used my scythe to cut through all of the weeds, my pickaxe to break the rocks and gain stone, my axe to cut down some logs and trees, from which I gathered wood, sap, and different seeds from until my pockets were bursting with materials. After what seems like an eternity, I'm panting from exhaustion. There was now enough room to safely leave my farm and go to town. But, before I go anywhere, I need to plant my parsnip seeds.
I grab my hoe and start tilling the ground until there are fifteen spots. I quickly (but carefully) plant all of the seeds and water them as evenly as I can. I finish watering all of the seeds, whisper a few words, such as, "You guys will grow out to be great!" and head out into town. Although, I'm not entirely sure which way to go... I explore for about twenty minutes, and then finally find the bus stop where Robin had picked me up yesterday. Going with my gut, I head past the bus stop until I see some buildings.
As much as I wish I didn't have to, my brain tells me to greet the townspeople and introduce myself. The second building that I see looks like a little shop, so I head inside. A man with yellowish-orange hair greets me by saying, "Ah! The new farmer! I'm Pierre, owner of Pierre's General Store."
"Hi, I'm Amelia." I say, with no confidence or personality whatsoever. I'm so bland... but Pierre doesn't seem to mind. At least, he doesn't act like it.
"Nice to meet you, Amelia! Everyone in town has been eagerly awaiting your arrival! We're so glad to finally meet you." Once that sentence comes out of his mouth, though, he immediately switches to business mode. "My shop is open from 9-5 every day except Wednesdays. I have the best seeds available for the best prices! Would you like to take a look now?" Pierre looks at me expectantly, as if thinking I would instantly shout, "Yes! I'd love to have a look! Maybe even buy your whole stock, while I'm at it!"
"Uh... No thanks, I'm actually just greeting everyone for right now. Introducing myself, y'know?" I give him an, "I'm sorry but please let me leave right now" kind of look, and he seems to nod in understanding. Just as I'm saying my goodbyes, a green haired woman passes by me. I stop her by saying to her, "Hello, my name's Amelia. I'm the new farmer in town; I just moved into Dairy Air Farm." I try not to wince as I remember the silly name my grandpa came up with.
"Oh, nice to meet you, Amelia. I'm Caroline, and I see you've met my husband, Pierre? He runs the general store. Have you met my daughter, Abigail, though? She's the pale one with the purple hair; kind of hard to miss."
"Oh, I'm sure I'll meet her soon. Right now, I'm pretty much just saying hi to whoever I come in contact with." I chuckle, but that sounded much weirder out loud than I had first heard in my head.
"Alright. Well, it was nice meeting you, Amelia. I'll see you around." Caroline gives me a sweet smile, but all I could give back was a grimace; I see my working at Joja Mart definitely didn't help with my human interaction skills.
Meeting two people today seemed like enough. I can see out the store window that it's already getting late, so I decide to head home. Right as I exit the store, though, my stomach grumbles. I still haven't had any food today, and I'm honestly starving. There has to be some type of restaurant somewhere around here... Sure enough, as if Yoba granted my wish, I heard door close at the building in front of me, and the pungent aroma of beer and pizza wafts over to my nose.
This seems to be the only restaurant in sight in this little town. Guess I'm going to eat here tonight. Entering the Saloon (as I'd read on the sign above the door), I'm greeted with loud voices and several people. It takes a few seconds, but everyone quiets down once I enter. I sigh and just head right up to the counter; I've had enough meeting people for the day.
"Hello, you must be the new farmer! I'm Gus, owner of the Stardrop Saloon! What can I getcha tonight?" This brightly clothed mustached man smiles at me once he's done speaking.
"Hi, I'm Amelia. I'd like one slice of pizza, please." I'm too tired for formal introductions, so, after I order, I just sit down at an empty table in a different room, away from everyone else. There's a little pool table and a Joja Cola (or, as I like to refer to it, the Devil's Soda) vending machine in the room. I sit on the couch and wait for my name to be called. As soon as it is, I rummage in my pockets, grab 20G, and take the pizza slice from Gus' hands. I hurriedly down the pizza and rush out of the saloon, not wanting another possible social interaction.
With my head down all the way to my farm, I don't bump into anyone. There's the occasional whisper that I hear while in the main part of town, but nobody seems too keen on speaking with me, which, is entirely fine with me. I'm too drained after today, anyway. At last, I get into bed, not even bothering to change clothes or brush my teeth. It was a tiring day; hopefully tomorrow won't be as bad.
A/N - I hope you guys are liking the story so far. :) I'm planning on posting about once every day, possibly twice a day if it's a shorter chapter (like the first two). Please let me know if you're enjoying this so far, and thanks for reading!
