The next day Kanda and Lavi showed up in a black SUV. A gnome like man was driving. How he managed to reach the pedals and still see was anyone's guess. Lavi introduced the old man as his grandfather.

"Is it ok if he stays for the summer to help with the renovations?" Lavi asked Krory.

"Allen is in charge of all that." The tall dark figure stated.

"Yeah, that's fine." Allen chuckled.

"You will move into this apartment with me while we renovate these rooms." Kanda told Allen. They spent most of the next few days rearranging and getting things settled. The small apartment now looked to have two bedrooms, one on either side of the living room. Kanda had bought wall dividers to make the spaces more private. He gave Allen the bedroom with the window. Lavi and Bookman took rooms out in the main hall.

The antique dealer came and bought all of the furniture and clutter in most of the rooms. There was hardly anything left, but they had close to million dollars to renovate with, and pay the taxes the grandfather had let slide. This was the one area the Earl had been hoping they would forget about. He was planning on swooping in and buying the house out from under them when they couldn't pay the taxes. Allen had laughed as he walked out of the town hall with the Earl throwing a temper tantrum.

"This is great. I've never been so happy." He laughed as he used Kanda's shoulder to hoist himself up onto the bike. Kanda snickered.

"Short stack your malicious." The driver stated. He drove them back to the house. The renovations were to start the next day. Krory was hiding in the attic. Allen took a tray of food up to him. He knocked on the door. There was no response.

"Krory, come on, it's just me. You need to eat." Allen insisted. The door remained stubbornly closed. He tried the door knob. It was locked. Allen was worried about his friend. He set the tray down telling him it was there. He then went down to his apartment.

Kanda was leaning against a windowsill. His long dark hair flowing freely around his bare slim muscled chest. It was apparent he had just gotten out of the shower. He was toweling his hair dry. Allen stormed in.

"I saved you some hot water." The hot guy called. Allen ignored him. Instead he marched to the window across from the man. It took all his strength just to force the thing open. Kanda came over to help when it looked like Allen was going to die trying to open it.

"I'll have the crew look at all the windows. The stupid rabbit said he was stuck as well." Kanda muttered. He was turning away, thinking Allen had only wanted the window open. He didn't hear the small thin teen slip out onto the roof.

When Kanda reached the kitchen he turned to ask the short stack if he wanted some tea. His gaze surveyed the room finding it free of all Moyashi's. Kanda frowned. Where could he have gone? He hadn't heard the door close.

"Short stack where are ...?" He heard a muffled shout. Kanda ran from the kitchen. He got to the window in time to snag ahold of the pale flying limb as the body was falling to the ground below.

"WHAT ARE YOU DOING?" He screamed at the kid. Dragging him up by his ankle he managed to get him to the window. Another set of hands was there helping to pull the teen back inside.

"Allen, are you alright?" Lavi asked. Allen sat on the window edge.

"Krory locked his door. He hasn't been eating. I was trying to go up and see if I could get in from outside. The window wouldn't budge and my foot slipped."

"Which resulted in you nearly busting your head open on the concrete below!" Kanda snorted. He walked away to shaken that the kid nearly killed himself.
