The dinner was good. The food was great. At times the conversation stalled. Lavi was good at just rambling on about stuff. Allen often joined him. If the others had something to share they did. After an hour or so, dessert was gone and they were finishing up their coffee, a voice called out.

"Little Allen Walker." Allen's body shivered at the tone of that voice. His already pale face went white. Slowly he turned. Looking down to the main floor of the restaurant there stood the last man he had ever wanted to see.

"M, m, master." Allen whispered. Kanda turned. A tall red haired man stood there. One arm around a pretty brunette, the other pulling the cigarette from his smiling lips. Golden eyes drank in the sight of the white haired teen.

"Cross, I presume?" Kanda blinked. He was shocked to see his father step up behind the man.

"Who the hell are you?" Cross asked turning to Tidal.

"Oh, me, I'm no one. I look after the kids." He waved up to Allen and the others. That was all Kanda heard of what the man said. He spoke to Cross, maneuvering the tall man out of Allen's line of sight. Only once he left did Allen tear his eyes from the spot. He was breathing rapidly.

"Come on, let's go." Kanda stood. He took Allen's hand pulling him to his feet. Lavi and Kanda paid the bill as the group began to walk out. Allen stumbling after Kanda.

"Wow, he really scares you. I've never been able to get you to look that pale." Tyki was standing at the bottom of the steps. "Sorry, really didn't think you would come to a place like this." He muttered looking at Allen.

"Get out of the way." Kanda growled.

"He was on his way out of town. Tonight was to be his last night." Tyki frowned.

"Oh, he is still leaving. Just a night early." Tidal smiled as he came up to them.

"Where is he?" Allen's frightened eyes darted around the dinners.

"Don't you fret. I've taken him out the back door. He is, shall we say, in custody of some very non friendly people." Tidal told them in a sober tone. His face brightened and he grinned at the young couples.

"Go on, the night is still young, have your fun." He chuckled shooing them away. Kanda led the walk outside.

"Kanda, let's put Allen in the car." Lavi muttered.

"Yeah, I think that's best." He agreed.

"Should we just go back home?" Krory asked.

"No!" Allen hissed. "He, he might follow lets just go on with our night." He shifted closer to Kanda.

Kanda pulled the keys for the motorcycle out of his pocket. He exchanged them with Lavi. The dark haired teen walked his date to the car. He placed Allen in the passenger seat before walking around to get in to drive.

They pulled out. "Allen, hey, I'm right here for you." Kanda reached over to take the cold hand resting in the boys lap.

"I know. I was having such a good time. Seeing him..." Allen looked away.

"Yeah, I can't fathom how your feeling right now." Kanda watched him. Allen drew in a deep breath. He let it out slowly.

"I'll be ok." He stated. They drove to campus. At the school there was a night club nearby. Tonight was Karaoke night.

"It was Lavi's idea." Kanda muttered.

"Can you sing, Kanda?" Allen asked. Kanda smirked.

"Like a canary." He told him.

"Don't they use them in coal mines or something?" Allen took the long fingered hand in his as the bike pulled up beside them.

"Not for a few years." Kanda chuckled. Krory swung from the bike grinning hugely.
