Sophie woke up with a sore head. That's the first thing she noticed along with the small dripple of blood. The second thing is that she had no idea how she ended up on the stone floor of an alley way. The last thing she remembered was an extreme feeling of stress multiple eyes looking upon her. What worried her most, even more than the fuzz of memories of her past, was the note that was in the back pocket of her jeans.
Sophie foster,
That is your name, you are 15 years old. You are not ordinary but no one can know this. You will soon find out you have abilities beyond human nature, 5 infarct. Teleportation- ability to teleport, telepathy- ability to enter and read others minds, polygot- ability to speak any language instinctively and fluently, enhancing- ability to make other abilities stronger and inflicting- the ability to make others feel emotions. Don't show anyone, dont tell anyone. Her head spun. This was her seventh time reading through the note but it made less sense each time. It was as if there was a part of a brain that still held some memories, still understood what those words meant. But as time continued that part of her brain lost her past as well, just like the rest of her mind.
Taking in the rest of her surroundings for the first proper time, it seemed as if she was in new York, the empire state building poking above the other skyscrapers. Huh. Skyscrapers didn't feel quite right, like a word that she would rarely use.
Once she was up, She sun 90 degrees, only to stumble backwards, her face inches away from slamming into a grand building. A sign hung above the daunting steps- orphanage.
Oh well? She didn't see any parents listed on her note so I guess this was where she was headed. The steps where just as daunting as they seemed, except not on a mental scale. No. her thighs where burning by the time she met the receptionist. She was welcomed in the had some tea before sharing what little of the story she could. He name, her age and how she woke up on a floor?
The lady was kind, but seemed slightly sceptical. After searching her name with no birth parents found, she called management and they led her to a dorm. And for now lets just say that was interesting.
Bye the end of the first week, Sophie was ready to go get a job and move out. Her life was the definition of living hell. Nobody liked her except for the staff.
Other than that, the girls she shared a dorm with where anything but welcoming, and where certainly unhappy about the fact that she was beautiful, and that that would mean she would be adopted first, and then that was unfair and yadiyadiya. They had a problem with almost everything she did, except for the fact that she was super smart to her surprise, and would help them with their homework, or as Sophie would like to call it, I do all your homework without lifting a finger while you leave me my turn to have a shower.
This, much to sophies relief, did not last long as by the end of the first month, the other girls dread was coming true. Sophie was called down to the secretary, dressed in the clothes that the other girls hadn't stollen or trashed. She was told she was being adopted, by a single lady with one son who happened to be 2 years older than her. A surge of emotions pumped throughout her body, from nerves to excitement. But amongst the mix, she just felt wrong, like a small part of her was denying a new family. Maybe she once had another family, but that family was forgotten.
With a few steeling breaths, Sophie made her way down the last four steps where a kind looking middle aged woman with dark hair and kind eyes was looking down on her. Sophie was so concentrated on taking in the woman's appearance that she completely missed the part where the woman made her way towards her, only focusing once again when she felt a hand on her shoulder. The woman bent down to sophies eye level a smiled.
"I'm Sally. Are you ready to come home?"
