001 high school sweethearts"Are you kidding me?" Maleea slammed her hand down on the table located in the interrogation room located in Honolulu Police Department. "It was just a joke, Leea." Ari Hudson responded to his older sister. "Oh it was just a joke! A joke that got you fired and landed you with a misdemeanour on your record." She sighed exasperated, collapsing into the chair across from her younger brother. "I'm sorry, Leea. I mean that." The blonde sitting across from her apologised. With a sigh she nodded, standing and motioning for her brother to stand as well. He did, following the girl out of the room.
"Go ahead." Maleea directed, handing her younger brother the keys to her car, allowing him to let himself in whilst she stood back to thank Duke Lukela. "Thank you for calling me in, Duke." Maleea smiled tiredly. "He's just acting out Maleea, you're doing a great job with him." Duke smiled at the girl reassuringly, the brunette girl pulling the man in for a hug. "Hey, did you hear?" Duke questioned the girl. "Hear what?" She responded. "Apparently Steve McGarrett's back in Hawai'i." Duke nodded, a shocked expression taking over the girl's face, the man nodding, patting her on the shoulder and walking away.
Apparently Steve McGarrett's back in Hawai'i
The words kept repeating themselves in Maleea's head as she left the station. Opening the driver's door to her car she jumped in. "Just so you know, Ari, I'm going surfing with Kono now, do you wanna come?" She asked, the blonde boy taking a moment to ponder it. "Can we get shave ice on the way back?" He questioned, the brunette girl smiling big. "How old are you?" She giggled. "Just wanted to see you smile, big sis." The blonde hummed in content. "And yes, I'll come." He smiled at his sister, the woman reversing out of her carspot, the pair making their way to meet her long time friend, Kono Kalakaua.
"Shut up! This is my favourite song!" The brunette turned the radio up as the smooth beat of Harleys in Hawaii by Katy Perry began to play. Humming along the girl looked at her surroundings as she drove, everyday feeling more grateful that she lives on one of the most (in her opinion, the most) gorgeous island in the world. Taking in the salty breeze, she felt calm. Her thick brown hair flicking in the wind. "You know, when I was like sixteen I had the biggest argument with dad because the guy I was dating rode a Harley and he felt it was dangerous and the guy was reckless." The brunette informed her brother, imitating their late father. The blonde laughed. "Did you really?" He asked.
"Yeah, the thing is dad wanted to hate him so bad, but he actually loved him. Loved the way he treated me, loved the way he respected dad, loved the Harley." Maleea laughed. "Was this Steve or Tyler? I can never remember which one was first." Ari looked deep in thought. "Why do you look like you're thinking so hard." The brunette chuckled, taking a turn. "Tyler was first, Steve was the one with the Harley. He was also the only one you ever met out of the two. You guys used to be best friends, you were like seven when we broke up." She reminisced. Flashes of Steve McGarrett began playing through her mind like a bad movie, she shook the memories from her brain.
"Why'd you guys break up?" The blonde next to her asked. "It just became too hard." She grumbled, pulling her car into a park, she jumped out, pulling her board off the roof rack, Ari jumped out soon after, the brunette locking the car, she tossed her keys and phone to the blonde as they walked to find Ari a spot to sit on the sand. Once they did, the brunette stripped her clothes to reveal her bikini clad body, before rushing into the water to meet her friend.
"Leea!" Kono called out, when she saw the brunette paddling towards her. She smiled waving as the pair continued paddling out, waiting on their boards for a wave. "How'd it go with Ari?" Kono asked. "Fine, he says it was just a joke. I just wish he'd stop causing trouble." Maleea sighed. "You feel that?" She questioned Kono, the latter nodding. "A big one's coming." The two girls had a talent - that weirdly only happened when they were together - to feel a wave coming in. Preparing themselves, the pair were ready to catch the wave, and they did until some guy dropped in on their wave. The guy taking Maleea out.
"Hey, watch out!" Kono called, but it was too late, the unknown man had bashed into Maleea, landing the girl in the water and off her board. Resurfacing from the water, she was pissed. Grabbing her board, the pair jogged out of the water, Maleea beelining for the guy who had dropped in on her. She stood her board into the sand. "Hey!" The guy turned, standing just in time to catch the brunette's fist in his face. "Think twice next time before you wanna drop in on someone's wave." She warned, grabbing her board and jogging into line with Kono. "Seriously, what a dick." She groaned leaning into Kono, who nodded.
"Cousin!" Kono called out running off from Maleea's side, the brunette stopped once she reached her brother. "That was sick!" He exclaimed showing his approval for what his witness. "Violence is not an option, it's a final resort." She warned. "But it was pretty sick, wasn't it!" She giggled. "Oh you had him, Water Woman!" Chin Ho Kelly joined the conversation, addressing Maleea.
The girl smiled giving the older man a hug. "Thanks Chins." She muttered, just noticing the two men standing with Chin. Immediately recognising the man with dark hair, she stood quietly waiting to hear what they had to say. "I just introduced Kono, but I believe it's your turn now." Chin cleared his throat standing next to her, throwing his arm over her shoulders, he motioned to the shorter blonde man. "Maleea, meet Detective Danny Williams and Commander S -" but Chin was cut off by the brunette. "Steve McGarrett." She breathed, a ghost of a smile grazing her lips as she heard a sharp gasp next to her, lightly she smacked the blonde on the head to shut him up. The brunette stared at the man across from her, although he was definitely older than the last time she'd seen him, he didn't look it. He also looked exactly the same, those piercing blue eyes still having the effect on her that they always had. He looked good, and she expected nothing less from the man she considered to be the love of her life.
"Am I missing something here?" Danny asked. "These two were high school sweethearts." Chin informed the blonde man. "Nice right cross." Steve spoke up for the first time. "Looks like you're still using what I taught you." He smirked at the girl, rolling her eyes she answered instantly. "Yeah, definitely comes in handy." She nodded, a ghost of a smile dancing on her lips.
"So, to what do we owe this pleasure, Chin?" Maleea turned to the man next to her. "We need your help." He nodded, the brunette's eyes darting between everyone in the group. "I'm in."
"Make sure she comes back alive, Chin." The blonde boy commented from the sand. "Shut up, twerp." She smacked his head again.
