002  i want you to join the task force

"All right, guys. Kono and Maleea are in play." Steve informed both Chin and Danny as they prepared to send the girls in to meet with a human trafficker named Sang Min. "Okay, guys, just get him to say how he's smuggling these people off the island." Chin directed the pair through their comms. Maleea's eyes darted around the space mentally noting every escape route, how many men she could see, how many weapons she could count. Something she'd always done since she was young.

"My friend says you need my help." The man they were trying to catch out, spoke. "I have an aunt and uncle in Nanjing. They would very much like to live here." Kono spoke, Sang Min's attention moving to Maleea. "You?" He questioned, the brunette held eye contact with the man as she spoke. "I'm just here for moral support." She nodded, tight lipped. Sang Min eyed the brunette, following her every move, not trusting her. Steve, watching the whole scene unfold on the surveillance cameras - his jaw clenching, not liking the way that the criminal they were trying to trap, was looking at the girl.

"I can have your family here within a week. Getting them out of China's easy. Paying for it. That's the hard part." Sang Min stated, looking back at Kono. "I have money." She nodded, Maleea shifting on her feet beside her friend, trying her best not to look bored. "Do you mind if I ask what you do?" Sang Min asked again, clearly trying to see if Kono was legit or not. "I work at the cannery on Pacific. . . and weekends as a housekeeper at the Royal Hawaiian." Kono answered his question, still in the very light innocent voice that she was previously using. Sang Min stepping towards the two girls, became face - to - face with them as Kono finished her previous sentence.

"Two jobs? Very commendable. Only, I'm afraid the kind of money we're talking about might be out of your reach." He continued. "I'm going to help her." Maleea stated, taking a step forward, closer to the man in front of her, he licked his lips before smirking at the brunette. "Very kind of you." He nodded, his eyes raking over her from head - to - toe. "Unless of course, we find some other form of payment." He took a step towards Kono, running a hand through her hair, suddenly pulling it back with a confused expression taking over his face, the cockiness he previously held, disappeared.

"Sand." He deadpanned. "What kind of person working two jobs has time to go to the beach?" He questioned Kono. "I surf during my lunch hour." Kono expertly defended, but it was too late Sang Min was already skeptical and he was not the kind of man to back away from a stance once he'd made his mind up. "Or maybe you're a cop. Maybe you're both cops." His eyes flickered between the two girls in front of him, Maleea held her breath. "Did anyone check them for a wire?" He questioned his men. "We checked them when they came in." One of them replied. "Maybe you missed it." Sang Min continued. Turning his attention back to the two girls.

"Take of your clothes, so I know you're not wearing a wire." He ordered, turning and walking away. The two girls shared a quick glance, both hesitant. Maleea was the first to begin stripping her clothes, leaving herself bare in a black lace underwear set. Kono followed suit. "Turn around." The man demanded, now sitting on his desk, staring at the pair. The two girls slowly turning. The man standing from his position, making his way over to them. He stopped drawing a line on Maleea's back with his finger. The girl holding her breath once again. "I'd like to put my dress back on now." Kono spoke as the two girls turned back around to face the man who was once again sitting behind his desk. Only to find the man holding up a phone, taking a picture of the pair.

"Hey!" Maleea called out. "What are. . . What are you doing?" Kono questioning the man at the same time. He dropped the phone on the desk. "I'm gonna send this photo to a friend of mine. And he's going to show it to his friends. If anyone recognises either of you. . . you're both dead." He concluded, Maleea's heart racing at the prospect, although she wasn't technically a cop, she was friends with many of them, hell, she was there earlier this afternoon with most of the cops on the island. Kono on the other hand was currently in the police academy, they were sure to get recognised, she wasn't ready for what was about to come next. They both started putting their clothes back on as Sang Min's phone buzzed on the table, raising his eyes to the two women in front of him.

His men running at the two girls, they began fighting them off. Suddenly the surveillance truck drove into the shipping container, the front door flying open, there stood Steve, gun aimed. "You're early." Maleea spoke from her position on the ground. "You alright?" He asked, his eyes scanning every inch of her to ensure she wasn't hurt. "Down! Down on the floor! Now! Down! Put your hands behind your back." Danny was next, arresting one of Sang Min's men. "Hey! Let me see your hands." Steve moved towards Sang Min, gun aimed. He put his hands behind his head as Steve moved in to arrest. "Gun!" Danny yelled, Kono and Maleea hit the deck, seeing as neither of them were able to defend themselves, the girls assuming the shooter was behind them as Steve turned in their direction. With one shot, he had the man on the ground.

Some things never change. Still my Stevie. Maleea thought. Sang Min grabbed a gun from his draw and began shooting. "Get down!" Danny let out, the four in the room all on the ground as the criminal exited the shipping container. "Anybody hurt?" Steve called out. "Good." Chorused Danny and Kono, Maleea not being able to say the same, somehow a stray bullet must have entered the girls side, she struggled to breathe or speak. Steve made his way out of the building to catch said criminal. "Danny!" Kono called over the blonde man when she noticed the blood pooling, she had turned to see that Maleea had been shot. Danny's breath hitched seeing the girl grasping onto where the blood was coming from. "Chin, call an ambulance." Danny said over comms. "On it." Chin responded. "Hey, Maleea. You're going to be fine, just put pressure there okay, like this." He demonstrated placing his hands on the wound, the girl wincing in pain. "Kono, help her." He stated, the other girl nodding and moving over to her friend, Danny made his way out of the building.

Danny and Chin made their way out to Steve who had Sang Min on the ground. "We're clear." He stated. "We've got movement over here." Chin spoke, hearing noise coming from a shipping container. "Go ahead. Go ahead, I got you." Danny spoke as Chin made his way over and opened the shipping container. The pair finding it to be full of people, presumably smuggled in by the man currently laying on the ground. "Hey, Steve. You need to know something." Chin spoke uneasily, looking between him and Danny. "What is it?" Steve asked.

"Maleea was shot."

Surgery to remove the bullet had been successful for Maleea. She groggily awoke to find three people asleep in her hospital room, her brows creasing together in confusion, she shifted herself to get a better look. Across from her were Casey - her best friend since they were young, and Ari curled up in two chairs. And lying in a chair next to her was none other than Steve McGarrett. "Steve." She whispered, throwing a pillow at him, shocking him awake. "What!" He bellowed, Maleea instantly shushing him. "Leea." He spoke, his voice raspy from just having been asleep. "Get your butt over here." The girl giggled making a space on the bed for him as he hopped in it.

"Why're you here, Steve?" She questioned. "Because you're here and it's our fault." He stated looking up at the ceiling. "Shut up you idiot, I said I'd do it. I'm here, I'm alive. It's fine." She laughed quietly nudging the man next to her. "I want you to join the task force." He deadpanned, the woman turning to face him, whilst he kept his eyes trained on the ceiling. "I'm in." She responded, turning her gaze to the ceiling also. "Good."

"I missed you, Steve."

"I missed you more, Maleea."
