Chapter 11: "News"

Dmitry read the letter, he was shocked by what he was reading.

Dmitry: Dear God above...

Jack: What does it read?

He faced them all and brought them the news.

Dmitry: A civil war has started.

The team looked at him in disbelief.

Harry: Impossible!

Dmitry: Nothing is impossible. It's the North against the South.

Spencer: What is even the purpose of the war?

Dmitry: For that you gotta read the actual news.

John: I got your daily news!

Dmitry: Speak of the devil.

John came riding back to the camp with the newspaper.

John: Did you hear about the news?

Spencer: We did. But not entirely.

John: Then here, read this.

He handed everyone the newspaper. When they read about it, they weren't really surprised by the reason for it.

Dmitry: About slavery?

John: About slavery.

Dmitry: Damn, send the word to every scout camp around here. Tell them if they want to fight in the war, they can.

John: Right.

He mounted his horse and rode of to the camps. Dmitry sat next to the fire, the others looked at him.

Annabelle: What now?

Dmitry: We continue with our job, this war can be a distraction towards the vampires and probably we can get in there without a problem and get out too.

Michael: Over the border with them?

Dmitry: At night. And also...

He got the attention of all of them now.

Dmitry: Slowly start packing, next week we are going near the battle field.

Juan: Woah there amigo, isn't that a little dangerous?

Dmitry: We shall be a safe distance away. Don't worry friend.

Juan: If you say so.

They all left him alone, they knew that he wanted to be alone by his body language and in his voice. He sat there contemplating about this. Night soon arrived and Elizabeth went out of her shelter to sit next to him. 

Dmitry: ....

Elizabeth: I heard about the news..

Dmitry: ...

Elizabeth: What do you think about it?

Dmitry: ...well, it's good that Northerners are fighting for the freedom of the slaves. But war in general is bad. And your thoughts?

Elizabeth: I think I stand the same with you.

He smiled and looked at her, and patted her head. Her cheeks went red.

Elizabeth: H-hey!

He quickly pulled his hand back and chuckled.

Dmitry: Go sleep Ellie, I shall be joining you soon.

He obliged his request and went back to her shelter, he sat there still in thought. He heard something moving behind him. He pretended that he didn't hear anything and continued on, as the noise got closer to him he pulled out a stake and grabbed the person behind him. He pinned the person down, it hissed at him.
