As the civil war rages across Terra Skavis, the Resistance gathered all it's forces and began making their way to Chancellor Kraton's stronghold. Leading the Resistance attack force was Rourke and Callista. The attack force consisted of multiple Skimmer squadrons and a few heavy assault vehicles stolen from the Cyclonian Loyalists. As the Resistance marched to Kraton's stronghold, Callista spoke with Rourke.
Callista: This could be it, Rourke. If we capture Chancellor Kraton, then we can end this war.
Rourke: Let's just hope Havelock's theories about the Cyclonians are accurate.
Callista: The Cyclonian Empire won't let Terra Skavis go without a fight, but dragging this war out for as long as possible will force them to leave.
As Callista says this, Rourke takes a moment to reflect on this. The end of the war was near. The Resistance was on the verge of their full scale attack on Chancellor Kraton's stronghold. It was a silent trip. Every member of the Resistance knew what was about to happen. But as the Resistance marched closer to the stronghold, the Resistance convoy was attacked by artillery fire. The attack destroyed one of the heavy assault vehicles.
Callista: Brace yourselves!
As the Resistance convoy braced themselves, artillery fire rained on the Resistance convoy. Using the blindspots from Commander Graves's intel, the Resistance were able to avoid the majority of the artillery strike.
Rourke: Stay within the blindspots!
The Resistance convoy slowly moved through the gaps within the stronghold'sartillery guns. As the Resistance convoy got closer and closer to the stronghold, the guns stopped firing.
Archer: The guns have stopped.
Ryder: I don't like this.
As Ryder says this, Rourke looked up at the sky to see a swarm of Talon Skimmers heading towards the convoy.
Rourke: Talons incoming!
Callista: Protect the heavy assault vehicles!
As Rourke and Callista gave the order, the Resistance Skimmers clashed with the Talons. Rourke and Callista led the charge as the Resistance Skimmers kept the Talons away from the heavy assault victims. Archer began picking off Talons Skimmers off the sky with his sniper rifle while Ryder provided covering fire. Slowly but surely, the Resistance convoy pushed to the gates of the stronghold. The gates leading to the stronghold was heavily guarded. Talon snipers shot down any Resistance Skimmers that came too close.
Rourke: Everyone get behind the assault vehicles and stay behind cover!
Following Rourke's orders, the Resistance fighters used the assault vehicles as cover, allowing them to slowly push towards the gate. Once the Resistance got close to the gates, Rourke runs to Ryder.
Rourke: I'm planting the explosives on the door!
Ryder: Callista and I got you covered!
Rourke rushed to the gate and began planting the explosives while Callista and Ryder covered him. Under heavy fire, Rourke managed to plant the explosives. As Callista and Ryder covered Rourke, Ryder was hit in the shoulder by a Talon sniper. Ryder groaned in pain as Callista pulled Ryder to cover. Archer began laying down suppressing fire as Rourke helped Callista tend to the wounded Ryder.
Callista: Are you alright?
Ryder: I'll be fine! That bastard got lucky!
Callista: Rourke, blow the gates!
As Callista tended to Ryder's wounds, Rourke detonated the explosives on the gates, blasting them to smithereens. With the gates destroyed, Rourke led the charge.
Rourke: ALL RIGHT, BOYS! LET'S SEND THESE TRAITORS OUT OF TERRA SKAVIS!
The Resistance fighters fought the Cyclonian Loyalists with unrelenting conviction. The Loyalists proved to be tenacious as they quickly were able to mount up a defense. At a fortified watchtower, a Talon mans a turret and begins gunning down Resistance fighters.
Callista: Rourke, that turret is tearing our boys apart!
Rourke: Then let's even the odds!
Rourke and Callista along with Ryder and Archer make their way to the watchtower where they managed to get inside the watchtower and clear it. Once the watchtower was cleared, Rourke and Callista led the Resistance fighters pushed the Talons into the main stronghold.
Callista: THIS IS IT! BEYOND THESE DOORS LIES THE ARCHITECT OF TERRA SKAVIS'S MISERY! BUT NOW IS THE TIME TO RECLAIM TERRA SKAVIS FOR THE PEOPLE! NO LONGER SHALL WE LIVE IN FEAR! FOR THE RESISTANCE! FOR TERRA SKAVIS!
As Callista rallied the Resistance fighters, morale was soaring. For the men and women of the Resistance, this was their opportunity to finally liberate Terra Skavis. Rourke soon stepped forward.
Rourke: NEVER LOSE FAITH MY FRIENDS! NEVER! WE WILL NOT STOP! WE WILL NO FALTER! TERRA SKAVIS SHALL BE FREE OR WE WILL DIE!
As Rourke spoke, the men and the women of the Resistance cheered as they prepared to make the final charge that would liberate Terra Skavis. But inside the stronghold, Chancellor Kraton's forces were preparing to fight to the last man. In his office, the disgraced Chancellor prepared to personally lead his troops. As the Resistance were on the verge of breaching the stronghold, the Intelligence Minister grew increasingly concerned.
Cyclonian Intelligence Minister: C...Chancellor, the Resistance are about to breech the stronghold.
Kraton: Let them come. I will personally show all of Terra Skavis the price of treason with the public and brutal executions of each and every Resistance dog!
Cyclonian Intelligence Minister: Count Ulric's fleet is almost at Terra Skavis. If we can hold off the Resistance until.....
Kraton: No! We do not need Count Ulric's help! The situation is under control!
Cyclonian Intelligence Minister: But Chancellor, our forces are being overwhelmed! We must......
Without warning, Kraton shoots down the Intelligence Minister with his pistol. As the disgraced Chancellor executed his Intelligence Minister, he turns to his men.
Kraton: I am the ruler of Terra Skavis. I will not have my authority undermined by anyone! Not Count Ulric and certainly not these Resistance dogs! These traitors seek to destroy our way of life and plunge Terra Slavis into chaos. I will not allow that to happen! My orders are clear. Anyone not wearing the colors of our glorious empire is a traitor and is to be made a bloody corpse!
In that moment, Chancellor Kraton had gone mad. He was ready to fight the Resistance right down to the last man. And if it came down to it, he would be prepared to reduce Terra Skavis to a smoldering ruin before he relinquish power to anyone wherever they be the Resistance or even a fellow Cyclonian. Whatever the case, the battle to decide the fate of Terra Skavis had finally begun.
