3rd POV

Year 850
2 Years After Enlistment

The sky was gray, the usual sunny skies were clouded as rain poured down. Deep in the woods, the panting and footsteps of trainee's could be heard as they went along the slippery mud, carrying heavy equipment. "Run, you laggards!" Keith yelled as he went by horse while the other cadets went on foot, running as they carried heavy equipment along the trail.

"What's wrong, Arlert? You're falling behind!" the drill sergeant said sternly as he slowed his horse down in order to be by the blond boys side. "Is it too heavy for you? Will you be the one guy to remove his equipment?" Shadis asked, referring to the equipment he was carrying as Armin breathed heavily, his steps rugged and slow. "If this were a real fight, you'd be Titan food by now!" Shadis told the boy as he soon went a bit ahead with his horse.

"Damn it!" Armin let out tiredly as he struggled to catch up. "Give me that," a voice suddenly said as Armin looked and was surprised to see Reiner as he took the equipment the boy was carrying. "At this rate, we'll all fail out! We're being graded on this exercise," Reiner told Armin. "If you do that, you'll lose points as well," Armin said in between breaths. "Just don't let them find out! And don't make me change my mind!" Reiner said stubbornly.

As the two walked together, the drill sergeant had noticed this action from the tall man. 'Reiner Braun. A strong soldier, physically and mentally. And trusted by his comrades,' Keith thought as Reiner soon went ahead of Armin. (A/N: I don't know about the mental part there Keith 🗿)

Armin looked at Reiner as he said under his breath, "I will not slow everyone down, even if it kills me!" Armin quickly mustered up his energy as he catches up to Reiner and took his equipment back from him as he goes on ahead with heavier, exauhsted breaths.

'Armin Arlert. While lacking in physical strength, he's demonstrated an extraordinary aptitude for his studies,' Keith thinks as he assess Armin's strengths and weaknesses.

-change of scene-

The scene soon changes with a dense forest, sunlight shinned throughout the area. Hidden in the woods were Titan dummies with a hard material around the nape of these dummies.

As one of the dummies turned, 3 cadets went towards it as they sliced the material. They were Annie, Bertholdt, and Jean. Annie was the first to slice the nape as she cut deep and cleanly. Bertholdt followed soon after with the same result while Jean's cut wasn't deep enough.

'Annie Leonhart. Her strike form is flawless, but she works poorly with others and tends to isolate herself. Bertholdt Hoover. He has great potential, but lacks initiative. Jean Kirschtein. A master of 3D Maneuver Gear, but his brash personality causes friction with the team.'
