The cabin was beautiful. It overlooked the side of a mountain and was spotless on the inside. "Jesus guys, how much did this cost!?" I yelled sitting down my bag. I mean my god there was a pool table at the front entrance! "You don't have to worry about it, Angel! As we said, we got it covered!"

This was it. We had finally arrived. A press-free paradise with the ones I loved. "Go ahead, lets go look around..." Billy gestured forward for me to walk. He took my hand and let me lead him through the house. Stu took the bags and hauled them upstairs. The house was pleasant. The back wall was almost entirely glass, with two french doors in the middle. To the left were the kitchen, a small movie theatre, the laundry room, and dining room, to the right, a bathroom, and the stairs. A balcony was present, and crossed over the living room, giving a more open feeling.

We opened the doors and stepped outside on the deck. There was a hot tub in the corner. The Tennessee sun fell, casting a warm glow on us.  I leaned my body against the railing of the balcony and sighed. Billy wrapped his arms around my torso and rested his face in the bend of my neck. "What are you thinking about?" I placed my hands against his. "Everything..." He kissed my neck lightly, sending shivers down my spine. "Anything specifically?" I hummed. "Tatum... She hasn't left my mind...."

He sighed and groaned. "I'm sorry Val, but that's the way it had to be..." I nodded slightly. There was a moment of silence. I traced the bone structure of his hands as we stared out to the horizon. "Let's go and find Stu, I'm sure he's waiting for any bit of attention from you."

I laughed at his comment and we turned around to head back inside. Stu was sitting on the couch watching TV. Billy left my side and went to the kitchen. I joined Stu on the couch and sat with him. He pulled me in with that big goofy smile he always wore. The hold felt familiar, almost too familiar.

"Don't worry about Tatum..."

"You weren't supposed to see that..."

"We all go a little mad sometimes..."

1... 2... 3...

Blue lights, red lights, loud sirens, shakey breaths...

It all came back too quickly, and it was too much. Those memories cascaded over what was happening at the current moment. I felt my body stiffen as I jumped up away from Stu. I let out a gasp.

"What's wrong?" His happy grin was one now filled with concern. I couldn't comprehend anything. My vision was blurry, and voices sounded bubbled. "Val?" Billy peered out from the kitchen to see what was going on. "Valarie, baby, come on, please talk, what's wrong?" I was inundated by the number of stimuli in the room. Whether it be fictional or literal. "Baby..." Stu stood up and reached out to grab my hand. "Don't fucking touch me."

He was taken aback by my obtrusive tone. "What the fuck is going on?" Billy made his way into the living room. My eyes were wide. Why was I acting like this? I felt furious and confused at the same time. "Which room is mine?" Stu fumbled for words. "Upstairs on the right, but Val-" Before he could finish I was upstairs and hidden in my room.

*****

Three soft knocks rattled on my door. "Come in..." I mumbled. My knees were held tight to my chest. "Hey..." Stu walked in and folded his arms. "Hey..." I greeted back. "I'm sorry if I did something wrong, or scared you-" I butted in, "No, I'm sorry, I don't know what happened, I just saw stuff from that night, and got overwhelmed..." Stu stepped further in and sat down next to me on my bed. "What do you mean?"

I shook my head. "I don't know how to explain it... I just saw it... Like I wasn't even in the room. It was like a flashback in a movie..." I ran my hands through my hair and Stu put an arm around my waist. He hummed. "Anyways, I was about to come to get you. I just want to chill for the night... Maybe just me and you?"

Stu smiled. "Yeah, yeah I'd like that."
