Looking back to where she used live, Faye couldn't hold back the tears that were threatening to fall since long. Memory after memory kept flooding her little brain. Those of good moments and those of bad, those of happiness and those of sadness. But they were all beautiful, because all those memories were of the two people that loved and cared for her the most. And she loved them, so much that her heart feels like it's tearing apart when the present reality strikes her.
They were gone. Her only parents that looked after her were gone.
And she was all alone. She was an only child in her family. Her relatives were in England because that was where her parents came from. In America, she knew no one except for the old lady who is her neighbour she casually greets in the morning when heading to school.
That explains why she was standing outside the house where she spent most of her childhood growing up.
Today was the last day that Faye would get to spend at her childhood home, in America that is.Aunt Mary, her mother's sister suggested that she returned to England. She said that she will be staying with her and that she will start college there as she managed to land a full scholarship at one of the prestigious universities in England.
Faye was grateful for that. She loved her Aunt because she was more like a second mother to her. She was one of the few people that she held closely to her heart.Taking slow steps, Faye walked through the pavement and entered the house.

Packing was something little Faye was never good at neither did she enjoy it. Just thinking about it soured her whole mood. But she had to do it since there was no one to help her. And time was not on her favour as the hours flew by drastically fast. She needed to finish on time so that she could get enough rest and not to miss her flight tomorrow. With that in mind, she began the never ending torture of packing her things.
Three hours.
It took Faye three hours to finish packing and boy did it tire her. She was proud of herself for finishing the duty on a short period of time, which means more hours for sleeping and lazily laying around.
Standing in front of her mirror, Faye took in her dishevelled state. Strands of her auburn whirled around the loosely kept bun on her head, her cheeks all puffy and red due to the unbareable heat that stroke through America. All in all, Faye was always insecure of her looks despite the constant reminder of how often her mother used to tell her how beautiful she is. But still looking at herself in the mirror, she never saw the beauty her mother saw. Her big doe blue eyes were too big for her liking, her boobs were too small compared to the girls in her school and her body was just not how she wants it to be. She wants to be thin and tall just like the models she saw in posters and banners on the roads of the busy city. But being 5'3 and having round hips and fat legs, that will only be a dream.
Drifting away from her thoughts, Faye entered the warm bath she prepared and let the warmth of the water wash away her tiredness. Faye stayed in the bath until her skin was swollen. She stepped out of the bathroom and picked her favourite pair of pajamas which had cute little pandas all over. She wore them, turned off the lights and got on her bed. Few minutes was all it took for her to fall into a deep slumber.
Faye was woken up by the blaring sound of her alarm. Looking at the clock, the time was 6:30 am. She had exactly two hours to get ready and reach the airport for her 8:30 flight.
With that in mind, Faye began preparing herself. She carried out her usual morning routine, had a warm bath and picked out a comfy outfit for the flight. She looked quite normal in her faded blue jeans and her favourite white fuzzy sweater topping it out with her cute white sneakers. She had a light breakfasts and just in time she heard the doorbell. She quickly opened the front door and was greeted by a man in his late forties.
"Good morning, miss Williams. I am Alfred and I'll be the one accompanying you to the airport." The man in front of her spoke.
"Oh, good morning Mr. Alfred. Please give me a minute I'll go grab my suitcases real quick. " Faye spoke.
"Ok Miss Williams " Alfred curtly nodded and with that Faye closed the door and dashed to her room upstairs. Her aunt told her that she'll be sending someone to escorts her to the airport. She was surprised he came an hour earlier. Grabbing her two suitcases, she struggled balancing them with her tiny body but alas she managed climbing down the stairs and opened the front door.
Alfred kindly helped her with both her suitcases as she closed the door of her house. Giving one final look at her childhood home, she went to the car never looking back, leaving with only the memories of the times she spent there. The drive to the airport took only forty minutes. The car stopped and in time Alfred got out of the car and opened Faye's door receiving a small ' thank you ' from her. He then opened the back of the car and withdrew the two suitcases.
Both made their way to the airport despite Faye's constant pleading of wanting to help carrying the suitcases but only received a plain 'no' from Alfred. She was just in time as she boarded the plane and adjusted on her seat. She hated long journeys, and the 8 hours flight to England was something she was not looking forward to.
The plane took off from the grounds of America. Faye whispered a silent goodbye to the country she grew up in. She would miss it here. Even though Faye had no friends, she would still miss it here. It was her home after all.The eight hour flight left Faye jet lagged. she was purely exhausted as she took off from the plane.
She finally reached london.
Her eyes searched for a certain face that she was familiar with. It was easy to spot her aunt. She had the same auburn hair just like hers and her mother which she easily spotted. Grasping both her suitcases in both hands, she passed through the buzzing crowd to reach her.
As soon as she was within her aunt's reach she was enveloped in a warm hug."Oh my little Faye, I missed you so much " her aunt cooed as she hugged her even tighter.
" I missed you too aunt. I missed you so much." Faye's voice broke. The one week of being alone with no one to hold her really took a toll on her.
"Now now dear, no need to cry. I am always here for you. You are never alone. Okay sweetheart? " her aunt comforted her. The words that Faye longed to hear made her heart swell. For once she felt loved and cared, for once she felt assured.
"So, how about we head home and tell me all about your trip?" Faye giggled at her aunt's playful voice.
"Well ok Auntie," Faye said as she grabbed her suitcase, her aunt helping her with her other luggage.
The ride to her aunt's home was spent with Faye ogling at the buildings they passed by and short conversations. They stopped at a small cream coloured house. It gave off a homely vibe with the well kept garden at the front porch.
"We are here." Her aunt chirped as they both got out of the car. Faye took in her sorrounding, loving the quiet and lovely neighbourhood.
Maybe coming to England wasn't a bad idea afterall. She thought. Her aunt was living alone. She was married but her husband died before they could have a family of their own. The house was quiet but lovely. She was shown to her room so that she could settle in. The room was small but comfy with peach coloured walls. The bed was big enough to fit her, a side table and a small closet.
After arranging her things, her aunt called for dinner, which Faye enjoyed so much. Her aunt was a nice cook like her mother.Saying their goodnights, Faye headed to her room and got ready to sleep. As she lay on her bed, she couldn't help but feel anxious for her new life. And to make it worse starting college on next week riled her nerves up. Faye wasn't a fan of socialising ,So having to meet new people really irked her.
As thoughts kept flooding her mind, her eyes slowly drooped and before she knew it, she fell to a deep slumber.
