"I'm not sure if I should stab you, or kiss you."

IT WAS A COLD WINTERS EVENING, and Trajan was tossing and turning in his bed, causing a loud ruffling noise to emit from his bedroom. He couldn't sit still, not for one moment. Tomorrow would be his first ever day as an exchange student at Hogwarts. He shivered at the thought. If only he had connections at his new school. The only person he would know would be his sister, which made him gag. He wouldn't be caught dead hanging out with her.

Pulling the blankets back, he slowly clambered out of his bed, heading for the door. He carefully twisted the door handle and pushed the door forward, making sure it didn't creak. He let out a sigh of relief after hearing the lack of noise. He tip toed across the hallway, watching out for the loose floorboards. Making his way down the stairs, he avoided the creaks. He memorised every one because of how many times he'd snuck out of bed. Sometimes because he was hungry, other times because his mind was packed full of thoughts and he needed to escape for just a moment. He found whenever he slept, his thoughts played up, and put images in his mind, causing him to panic and loose sleep. His mother always did lecture him about his lack of sleep, but he couldn't help it. Mentally, he found difficulty in the simplest of things. In this instance, it was sleeping.

He shook his thoughts from his brain as he headed towards the kitchen. Slowly opening the right cupboard, he went on his tip toes, looking for any remainders of food. Preferably cookies. With great difficulty, he reached out for the jar hidden far back in the cupboard. He raised himself off the floor, now sitting on the counter. He grabbed the jar with ease. He opened the jar with haste, quickly grabbing a cookie from inside. He hummed in content as he placed a piece inside his mouth. He was always fond of cookies, according to his grandma. Talking of grandma, he can finally go visit her once again, as she moved to England when he was just a child. The thought of seeing his grandma made him giddy. After all these years, he could finally walk down the street, and be at his grandma's block. No more painstaking car journeys, only able to see her once every couple of years. He could finally see her whenever he wanted, not limited by the travel barrier.

He scoffed the rest of the biscuits and made sure to cover up any sign of him being there. He tiptoed his way back to the hallway, making sure to watch his step. He creeped up the stairs, only to be greeted by his dog, Annie. She sat a the top of the stairs, panting, and her tail wagging. He chuckled to himself and patted her the on the head. She rubbed up against him, begging for more affection. Pushing her to the side, he made his way to his bedroom. Not far behind him was Annie. She was following him, expectantly. He held the door open for her to enter and walked in not soon after. She looked at him and then walked straight over to his bed. Wagging her tail, she hopped onto the bed, did a little circle, and lay right at the top, directly next to his pillow. Smiling, he went to go lie next to her. He pulled the blankets over the two of them. Snuggling with Anna, he soon fell into a deep sleep. It was the best sleep he'd had in a while.

"Trajan. Trajan!" A piercing voice screeched directly by my ear. "Get up!" I recognised it to be the voice of my mother's. I stirred in my bed, accidentally creasing the sheets. I felt someone attempt to pull me which caused me to groan. "Mom, stop." I said impatiently. "Why were you sleeping with the dog? You know she's not allowed on the beds. Garçon stupide. (Stupid boy)." I shrugged which only caused her to shake her head. "It's your first day of school. Do not make your sister late with your childish behaviour." She ripped the blankets off me forcing me to wake up. I looked at her with pleading eyes, but alas there was no sign of giving it back. "Mom!" I moaned, elongating my words. "You better be ready in the next half an hour." She said, sounding dead serious. In a strop, I tossed and turned in my bed before finally getting up. I hoisted myself up, not having enough energy to properly stand up. Groggily, I walked over to my wardrobe and grabbed anything I could find. Without looking, I threw it on, adjusting the sleeves just to make sure they were the correct length. I walked over to my mirror and ruffled my hair, trying to make it look 'presentable'.

I rushed down the stairs as fast as possible, watching my step so I didn't fall. I didn't particularly want to break my nose. Not today at least. "Watch your step." My father said as I rushed past him. "Oi, Gros lard. (Fat ass.)" A snotty voice called out. "I don't have time for you today." I brushed her off, not wanting to talk to my younger sister. "Rude!" She called out from the dining room. I was now in the kitchen, reaching for that same jar I had last night. I know my mom tops it up every Wednesday. Everyone memorised that date because mom's cookies are the best.

I twisted the lid off, and reached my hand into the jar. I pulled out an abnormally large cookie and scoffed it as fast as possible. I hummed in content. To my disappointment, mom snatched the cookie out of my hand and put it back in the jar. "Not before breakfast." She said before walking off, the washing basket nestled in her hands. I saw my sister launch her first washing into the basket.

"We're going in a bit!" Father called out from up the stairs. "Okay!" Dove practically screamed. Mom forced us to get in the car ready. I sat squashed between Dove and our bags. We were uncomfortably close. I could feel the tension emit from her body. My body radiated then same energy.

"Allez alors les enfants!" Father said, speaking in his tongue. he slammed the car door behind him and we were off. For the rest of out short journey, we chatted before we finally had to leave. "Right then. Off you go!" Father said, although we couldn't leave because our mother wouldn't let us go. "Vous allez me manquer, mes bébés." She said, sniffling between every couple of words. "Je t'écrirai maman." I smiled at her and slowly walked off. "Au revoir!" My sister called out. They waved back to us and then they were gone. "Does this mean we have to sit together?" Dove said, a look of disgust on her face. I shrugged and walked off. "Ne me laisse pas tout seul!" She said, running after me. I huffed, but I was smiling.

Maybe this wouldn't be too bad. Now all I needed were friends, and maybe I'll enjoy my time here.
