That day was a special day.

That day; it was her birthday.

He had spent hours and hours looking for the perfect gift. He had groaned so many times; he had spent hours in shops, asking the salesmen and saleswomen "What do you have for a woman birthday gift?" and they had showed him so many things, and never did he feel satisfied with what they offered.

Now, he was going to arrive to the guild, with his dear bag hidden behind his back. He swallowed. Gajeel never felt that anxious. It made him feel bad; his heart was beating so fast that it was like it was going to go out from his chest. He stood still, right on the doorstep of the guild, and couldn't move. Him, the mighty and great Gajeel, couldn't take a single freaking step forward. He hoped no one looked at him at that moment. But – unfortunately for him – someone was.

"Oy Gajeel, why the heck do you stay on the doorstep? Just walk in already!!"

His body was completely tensed. Until he noticed it was only that stupid Salamander.

"Oh... It's you, Natsu." He sighed.

"Wha- ", Natsu widely opened his eyes, "What the heck?? You never call me by my name normally- Is something wrong???"

Gajeel looked around him. Great, she was not here yet. He turned towards Natsu, took his arm and pulled him towards a quiet room of the guild. The fire Dragon Slayer grumbled – he did not understand what was happening to the "iron jerk".

When they both reached a place where Gajeel was sure no one could hear them, he turned around and looked at his fellow.

"Well... You're maybe not the one with who I would like to talk about this, but you're the only one here, right now, with who I'm a little familiar..."

Actually, that wasn't true. Gajeel had seen Erza talking with Grey in the back of the hall, but he actually didn't want to talk to them. He would have preferred to talk to Juvia – he had to be honest -, but she wasn't there yet, and he couldn't stay like this, like a real idiot, worrying about Levy's birthday gift he wanted to give her.

"Then are you gonna talk or what??" Natsu sighed.

"Well... It's only because you're the only one here I can talk to, and I'm not even sure you'll be that helpful- "

"Oh, shut up Gajeel just talk to me."

Gajeel remained silent a moment. He was impressed with how serious Natsu looked at that moment. The iron-made man had a crooked grin on his face.

"Gehee... Okay, Salamander. Well... You see, today is Levy's birthday... But... Well, how can I say that..."

"You're not really good with gifts... That's it?"

"Yes... I had spent hours looking for the perfect one; I finally found something but I'm not totally satisfied..."

Gajeel took the thing he was talking about out of the bag he was holding. It was an orange silk shirt dress, with a white belt to tighten it around the hips.

"W-Woaw- Gajeel, it looks pretty good!" Smiled the fire dragon. Gajeel shook his head.

"I don't really know... I hope because I spent a lot of money to buy it, just in order to make her happy..." He whispered the last words. Natsu grinned.

"You're kidding me man! This is exactly the type of clothes she wears! She's gonna love it trust me!!"

Gajeel was about to answer, but when he heard noises coming from the principal room of the guild, he gulped.
