1813 Clyvedon Manor

Dearest gentle reader, I must send felicitations to the new Duke and Duchess of Hastings. Congratulations and stamina as they embark on the most exhilarating time in a young couple's life. I am, of course, talking of the honeymoon.

When Simon and Sienna's carriage pulled in front of Simon's home Clyvedon, Sienna was in awe. Although she and her family had two homes, their house in London and their summer home in the country, both were nice, large estates.

Simon's estate was larger.

Sienna removed her hood from her head as she stared at the outside architecture of the house. It was beautiful. Simon reached for her hand and she placed her hand in his as he led her up the stairs and past all the new staff that would now be attending her. They all said their pleasant good mornings to Sienna as she and Simon passed.

Is there a more romantic notion? To retreat from society together... finally leaving watchful eyes behind.

"Welcome to Clyvedon, Your Grace. It has been so long since we have been blessed with your presence, but I trust you will find everything to your liking." The head housekeeper Mrs. Colson greeted Simon. She was at the top of the stairs just before entering the house.

"I do not doubt it, Mrs. Colson. I hope you have been well." Simon said to her with a warm and genuine smile on his face which made Mrs. Colson smile too. "May I introduce to you, the Duchess of Hastings." He said. Colson turned to Sienna and gave her a polite bow and Sienna smiled.

"I am looking forward to making your acquaintance, Mrs. Colson," Sienna said.

"Thank you, Your Grace. I have planned everything to make you both comfortable. First, a light meal served on the terrace. Then a tour to show you all of the improvements I have made. Then...-" Simon cut in.

"...-I am sure it will be most diverting, Mrs. Colson, but I am afraid it will have to wait. I have plans of my own for my new bride." Simon said as he grabbed Sienna's hand and led her inside. Mrs. Colson wasn't going to argue with that because she knew exactly what Simon meant. When Sienna stepped inside, she was even more in awe of the inside than she was of the outside.

"Wow." She breathed to herself as she looked around. The house was beautiful.

"I want to show you the bedroom." Simon's voice broke her out of her thoughts. When she looked at her husband, he had a teasing smile on his face and Sienna raised an eyebrow.

"Yours or mine?" She asked and Simon had a hint of a smirk on his face.

"You truly believe that we are to have separate rooms?" He asked as he started walking over to her. "I should think not," Simon said as he quickly picked up Sienna in his arms before she could react, but all she did was laugh.

"Stop! They shall see! Whatever will they think?" Sienna asked. She was referring to the housekeepers and butlers. Simon shrugged his shoulders as he headed for the stairs.

"Does it matter?"

While this author, along with the rest of the ton, will certainly miss its most remarked upon couple back in London. Perhaps we might have solace in one, the upcoming union of Miss Daphne Bridgerton to Mister Vincent Reyes, and two, the promise of the duke and duchess returning to us bearing a surprise.

The rest of the Reyes family were at a party that was being hosted by the Bridgertons. Colin Bridgerton had become engaged to Miss Marina Thompson. This party wasn't specifically thrown to announce their engagement, but Colin wanted to use the opportunity. He used a knife to tap the side of his glass.
