"Hazing is over yet you're still at each other's throats," Knot observed, disappointedly glaring at his best friend, who was busy glaring at a certain group of freshmen.
Arthit transferred his glare towards his best friend, a 'fuck you' definitely in his gaze but never leaving his mouth. Knot was, of course, unaffected by such things, already used to such sharp glares from the other. They've been friends for two years now, after all.
"What would it take you to be civil with one another for just a second, huh?" he continued, much to the annoyance of the head hazer. "You taught them about unity, for fuck's sake!"
"Let's not forget about seniority," piped a new voice, making the surly man's expression darken further.
"We are their seniors. You should set a good example for them to follow, you know?" chided Tutah.
There was a chorus of agreement from the rest of his friends, even Prem, who was in the same boat as him in hating a certain junior. Bright, the usual jokester was serious for once, looking tiredly at him and then at Prem.
"You two, you should seriously start mending your relationship with the juniors. This is getting out of hand," he said seriously, further surprising Arthit and the others.
"Getting out of hand, how?" Arthit asked, bewildered. He was asking himself currently if he had stepped into the twilight zone somehow, or in another dimension for that regard, because their friend was acting weird. Bright was never serious even when the situation was dire.
"The juniors aren't respecting us! Even the others from our batch said so!"
Arthit narrowed his eyes at the clearly frustrated man.
"They aren't respecting their seniors?" he asked in a dangerously low voice. Bright, sensing his darkening mood, hastily corrected himself.
"I-I mean not disrespecting, per se. It's just that no matter what the seniors do to get closer to them, they remain politely stubborn against it. There's a serious rift between our year groups, that it's been noticed by even the professors!" he whined.
Arthit maintained his narrowed eyes, studying his friend. Then they widened when everything clicked into place.
"Prof. Thorat put you up to this, didn't he?" was his rhetorical question. He rolled his eyes when the other squeaked.
"What? Why? Why this dim bulb here?" asked Tutah, perplexed.
"Ooooii! Fuck you! What do you mean by that, huh?"
"It's just that, you're a little bit unreliable, Bright," Knot answered for Tutah.
"What? I am hurt that you think like that!" Bright said, actually looking hurt himself.
"We're just stating facts, Bright," told Tutah.
"So? What do you plan on doing, huh?" asked Prem, who had remained silent for all the times they had been bickering. Bright blinked at him cluelessly.
"Talk some sense into him?" he said simply.
"Haa? That's it?!" Prem replied incredulously.
"What's wrong with it?"
Knot rubbed his face with his palms, looking so done with his set of friends. Arthit looked indignantly at them, while Prem and Tutah looked at Bright in disbelief.
