Arthit’s POV

I looked at the structure warily. The stately white mansion that had always been welcoming to me when I was a child now seemed foreboding. Sinister. Beside me, Elle grasped my hand, her own hand cold and shaking. I intertwined our hands together, gripping tightly in solidarity.

The guard who greeted us, I noted, looked on in uncertainty, as if he wanted to say something but was hesitant. In the end he must’ve decided against it because he plastered a very fake smile on his face as he let us all in.

Like before, we set up camp on the ground floor, the paranormal investigators laying their equipment on the dining table. Kongpob sidled up next to me and asked about my wellbeing. Such a gentlemanly boyfriend, am I right?

I nodded to him with a smile then I began to help with the preparations.

There were more of us now, but Kong’s entire friend group wasn’t with us. Only Em, Prae, and Tew tagged along, and another person, Pran, whom Prae introduced as a medium and also a witch. I was skeptical of him, of course, in the same way that I was skeptical of Prae’s claims that she was also a medium.

But then again, I didn’t believe in the paranormal before. I was a full-fledged nonbeliever. Look at me now.

I would have to wait to see what they could do, I guess. I had accepted the fact that there were powerful beings somewhere out there that could definitely influence humans like what had happened to us, but I haven’t believed in humans having the same ability, much more the capacity, to face off against these entities.

So yeah. Skeptic here.

Elle seemed to be okay with him, though. She was even joking with him and asking him a bunch of questions, ‘oooh-ing’ and ‘aah-ing’ at every explanation. I barely resisted my eyeroll.

When we were all set-up, we debriefed once more, to remind one another of the rules that our witches had set. Then we split into our groups to try to communicate with the spirits that we talked to last time.

Elle would be going along with Em, Pran and Tew to the family room, while Kong, Prae and I would go to P’Jay’s room. After that, we would meet one another again in the hallway and go together to the library.

And we did just that.

Nothing happened much and if those videos didn't exist at all, I would've dismissed all of this as a hoax. Prae was frowning something fierce and I could tell she was frustrated. We were too, but since she was the one who needed to protect us from whatever we were facing, her frustration must be off the charts at the moment.

"Maybe we need to trigger the cycle?" I wondered out loud. She looked at me critically before nodding her head in agreement.

"The library, is it?"

We all gathered our things, leaving a camera behind, and then went our way towards the library. Like what we've agreed, we waited at the hallway for the other group, Kong having texted one of his friends. A few minutes later, we were joined by them. Just like us, they also got snubbed by the spirit. We told them our plan and had them agree with us.

As soon as we entered the library, a feeling of uneasiness slammed into me, making me stumble backward. Beside me, Kong wrapped an arm around my waist in support, his face scrunched up in concern.

“You okay?” he asked.

“Yeah. Yes. I just felt a little dizzy there.”

He smiled a bit.
