There was no announcement. The other vampires had known they were coming, and longer than I.
I was still a young vampire. My abilities did not have as much time as they did to mature and to complete processing their bodies.
My hand clutched my stomach as I went to find a wall to silently rest upon.
The hunger was biting. It was climbing up my throat to meet my eyes and I could not hold back if provoked. The only thing I could do was hide behind the others and not garner any attention. If no one noticed me, this night would go smoothly.
The intruders were strange.
They did not dress in classical attire. Their shoes were indeed boots, and their hair was ruffled and unkempt. They carried the smell of grass and dirt. They were sweaty and panted. Not a great idea to do in front of vampires, but how could I comment?
My eyes were stuck on the man in the forefront of the group, most likely the leader of these unusual visitors. His hair was grown out and black, loosely hanging over his face. He had a strong build and smooth pale skin that did not match the calloused texture of his companions. His jacket was black and strapped closed. He wore grey pants and brown leather gloves that revealed his fingers. His eyes were a mix of an electric blue and hints of green. They glowed beneath his thick black eyebrows and above his flushed cheeks.
What intrigued me the most was how he smelt. I could smell all the way into the chambers of his heart, the heat coming from his veins, the soft movement of it traveling. My eyes bit into his neck, imagining the sweet pop of his skin and the delicious juice dripping, drooling down his collarbone.
I dropped my gaze. This is not lady like. Not at all. I turned my attention to my father. I needed the fear of the powerful instilled into me.
But my father did not look the same. He glimmered with a pleased expression, but I knew that it was forced. He stood from his chair and squinted his eyes. It was a scare tactic. He was a very towering man.
"Mr. Knopp, what calls you to my presence?"
The dark-haired man lowered onto his knee, bowing. As did the rest of his men. I furrowed my eyebrows.
"Further commentaries regarding the EE deal."
My father did not reply. he only waved his hand which summoned them upwards.
"Is there more to say?"
The beautiful man opened his mouth to express a dazzling smile. I genuinely almost fainted, but the long-haired vampires beside me were watching me. It was uncomfortable to have them there, but I found great comfort knowing that they could not dare speak to me, unless they desired to disrespect the Grand Dukes and my father, the King.
"Indeed there is." He spoke. I drank in his words. His voice was breathy and soft, but he possessed an accent that made me feel like he licked his words. If that was a thing.
This is getting increasingly more stuffy. Would you like to leave, princess? Matters like this are not so interesting to you, aren't they?
I blinked at the message within my head. It was hard to tell who it had come from as the voices, unless entirely familiar with them, tend to get muddled with your own inner narration.
But I could not look around. It would be too revealing of it's nature. So I paused, waiting for another reply.
Stewart's gaze pressed on me. It continued to get more difficult to ignore. I'm pretty sure the other vampires beside me could sense it as well. But it was embarrassing. He must have thought very little of my capabilities if he revealed himself so. I reeled in my thoughts.
