35. Fever

Naruto POV

After spending almost all night awake, and finally getting some sleep, I woke up with a massive headache.

I groaned as I placed my hand on my forehead; It was hot. Strange...

I sat up, but my headache got worse, so, I laid back down.

I then felt cold even though I had the covers on me. Sasuke was still currently sleeping next to me.

I glanced at him and groaned again since my head was killing me.

Sasuke then awoke, and looked at me. "Dobe... What's wrong? You sound like you're in pain" he said yawning as he sat up and stretched.

"Well, maybe because I am." I said.

Sasuke continued to look me up and down "Your cheeks are red. Are you ok?"

I just stared at him. "I don't think so."

He placed the back of his hand on my forehead "You're burning up..."

"And I have a massive headache." I added.

Sasuke then had a worried look on his face "Naruto, I think you have a fever."

"A what?-"

"Yes. And I'm sure of it. Stay here, I'll bring you some medicine." Sasuke said, getting out of bed and walking away.

I just sighed and laid my hand on my stomach. The baby was currently still. That is until I felt a small kick. As I gently rubbed my belly, Sasuke came back in.

He looked at me as I was stroking my stomach. I had a blank expression when I saw him come in. Mostly because he had a wet rag, and bucket of water, and a lot of medicine bottles.

He sat on the bed next to me, and placed his hand on my stomach. "You'll get better soon."

"I know that. But I don't even know how I got a fever..." I replied

"You can sometimes get sick randomly. It mostly depends on the weather." he said as he placed the wet rag on my forehead.

I nodded.

Sasuke then poured some of the medicine into a small cup, that's about two inches. He then handed it to me. "Drink it. It'll help."

I hesitated. The taste of medicine is not pleasing, but I took the cup and drank it anyways. I tried my best not to gag, but Sasuke noticed and chuckled. "Medicine never tastes good."

"If only it did." I said with a sigh.

"I'll make breakfast for the kids and you. I want you to stay in bed today and tomorrow, unless it's an emergency or to use the bathroom"

I nodded.

Sasuke then stood up and went downstairs.

It only took about three minutes until I heard footsteps running up the stairs.

Himawari busted the door open, and me startled; sat up.

"MAMA. ARE YOU REALLY SICK?!" she said.

I was very surprised at how much strength a little girl could have, but I replied; "Yes. I am sick..."

She then climbed onto the bed and hugged me. "I don't want you to be sick! What if the baby gets sick too?" she asked, looking at my stomach

"I'm going to be sick for a little while. And the baby won't get sick too. I hope..." I mumbled the last sentence, but Himawari nodded with a frown.

~A few hours later~

The kids checked in on me every now and then while Sasuke was busy doing stuff.

I was currently taking a nap, until I felt a stinging pain in my stomach. I tried to ignore it as best as I could, but it got worse. I then shot up while I was sweating.

I was about to have a heart attack, until the pain at one point got so bad that I screamed out in pain. It lasted for a couple of seconds, but it still had hurt.

Sasuke ran up the stairs faster than the speed of light, and to me.

"NARUTO- WHAT HAPPENED?!" Sasuke said with panic in his voice.

I was currently clutching my stomach in fear "I-It's nothing." I said.

"You screaming is definitely something." Sasuke replied, taking my hand and squeezing it.

"It was nothing! I just felt pain in my stomach..." I said as calmly as possible.

Sasuke's eyes widened as he stared at me "Naruto- It could have something to do with the baby!"

"I know that! But-"

"Maybe something happened to it. Maybe that's why you felt a lot of pain!" Sasuke said, clearly not letting me speak.

"But, Sasuke-"

"But WHAT?" he snapped

I made an annoyed and irritated expression since he wouldn't let me say a word. I know he's worried, but at least let me speak.

Sasuke saw my expression and shut his mouth.

"As I was saying. But I felt that pain before in recent pregnancies. It's probably just the baby moving around, and it just hurts me. It's not a big space, ya know." I said.

Sasuke then calmed himself down and sighed of relief. "Alright... That's good."

"It's a good thing that I'm in pain?" I said a little pissed.

"Wha- No! That's not what I mean! I mean it's a good thing that I know why you're in pain and it's not a really bad thing!" Sasuke said laughing sheepishly while clutching both of my hands in his.

I rolled my eyes in irritation. "It sounded like it was a good thing I'm in pain, but you know why."

"No! Of course I don't think that, my love!" Sasuke said leaving a trail of kisses all over my face.

I then closed my eyes and huffed. "Whatever you say."

Sasuke stroked my blonde locks "I promise you I don't think it's a good thing you're in pain. I don't want you in pain at all."

I said nothing, but Sasuke kissed me softly on the lips.

A tint of blush appeared on my cheeks, but I still said nothing.

I then felt that my headache came back, and so, I laid my head on Sasuke's chest, and I grabbed his shirt in my hands, clutching it.

By this motion, Sasuke understood that my sickness pain came back.

He held me close, and laid back on the bed, with me laying next to him.

I started to get sleepy and dizzy. So I slowly fell asleep.

"I promise I'll take care of you, the kids, and the baby" Sasuke said softly as I dozed off.

To show that I heard him, I smiled.
