"YOU STILL HAVEN'T TOLD ME WHY WE'RE UP HERE."

Rosalind was leaning against one of the metal beams of the building. Or what would be a building, she assumed. They had taken a sketchy elevator up to the very top. She had watched him turn on a bright spotlight that shot into the sky, showing the symbol of the same bat on his chest.

"We're meeting someone here," Batman replied. "Someone important."

"You couldn't have taken me home first?" She yawned. "I know I'm 'in this" now but c'mon. The sun is coming up."

The sun was rising, casting a hazy orange glow over the city. Rosalind looked out across it.

"At least the view is lovely," She said. "Look at that, huh? You know, I've noticed it's only ever like this after rain."

She pushed herself off the beam and walked forward, closer to the edge. But still far enough away from it where she wouldn't be able to look down. Heights were never her favorite. But she stared straight ahead and held her arms out to the rising sun.

"It's like the sky is apologizing," She said, guestering with her hands. "For all the rain. All the dark and wet bleakness."

He was standing next to her now. She gave a tired smile as she spoke, pointing at the small streaks of color that came through the hazy blue.

"So it gives us color." She continued. "Just splashes of it. Look, you can see it where the black is slowly turning to blue. Yellow and orange and red. Like a painting. Little brush strokes here and there and the blue gets brighter. It's almost purple if you look real hard. Things start to look warm. I hate the rain. After all that cold, what I need is warm."

She looked up at him, expecting to see him looking out over the horizon. She expected him to appreciate the sky as much as she did. But instead she found him already looking at her.

"Are you even listening to me?" Rosalind couldn't help but laugh a little. "Or am I just rambling on again?"

He took in every word, almost absorbed them. He took in everything, the makeup she still wore from the club, her jacket zipped all the way up to her chin, her wide eyes and sleepy smile.

"You should put that in a book," He said.

"I should," She sighed, looking back out at the sky. "I wish I could see this from my apartment."

"You can from the manor," he said softly. "On certain days."

She opened her mouth to reply when the sound of the elevator rumbling up to them started. She turned around with a start, quick on her feet just in case. But he shook his head at her, letting her know it was alright.
