I remember vividly my father used to say.... Well, that was before he lost his mind and became the stranger I barely knew;
That every human can be either of two things.Exquisite or plain
"Just like houses and castles.... Think of castles and the first thing that comes to mind is exquisite, the former can never compare, the difference will always remain in it appearance and perception of others "
Each time, he said this with a faraway but thoughtful look on his face, the look of someone who has been through shit and also seen life in all it spheres.
Back then I would watch him with a curious spark as he filled my ears with his strange philosophy on life, wondering what he meant half the time since I was just a kid who hardly knew what the world is all about.
I never really made sense of the things he said but I listened to him regardless because I had too, his philosophy never really dawned on me until I became a young adult, thrown into the chaotic world of choices and decisions, a world where who you are, what you do and how you do it determines if you will me treated like royalty or gabbage.My struggles finally opened my eyes to see things in the light my father had always tried to portray them to me, they brought me face to face with the harsh, unforgiving realities of life.
Also as I grew, I realized something else was missing, my father made a momentary lapse in his observation, he classified human in two distinct groups but he forgot about those who are stuck in the middle, those whose one single move could either catapult them to a live or luxury or the dreaded on of poverty. Personally I feel people in the world can be either one of three things not two.
Exquisite... Plain... Ugly.
If the first represent castles, the second represents houses them the last should represent huts... Yes you heard me right! mud huts.
You must be wondering what on earth I'm rambling about, classifying people in such absurd manner so I will just break it down to a lay man's understanding, the moral of the story I have been trying to pass is this;The class system still exist whether we like it or not, it only now in a remodified form because everyone still like to pretend we're all equal but the bitter truth is we're not...... you're either stinkingly rich, manageably comfortable order heartbreakingly poor, and that simply means we're not equal, we will never be treated or perceived the same way so keep that bullshit and lies you have been fed out of your head and take pick of where you a truly belong.
And yes! I didn't properly introduce myself, please forgive my lack of manners.
My name is Aliyah Salami but please call me liyah, I'm that girl with an heart-wrenching story that will make you weep every drop of tears in your eyes but don't worry, I'm not going to start telling a sob story just to get your sympathy.
