Huggy Wuggy wasn't as relieving to see as Y/n thought he would be. The short hallway opened up into a giant colorful room, the colossal blue mascot towering high over her crawling form. She sheepishly almost felt embarrassed to be entering such a menacingly important room so awkwardly, sprawled on her hands and knees with a janky contraption strapped to her back as if she were lamely pretending to be a beetle. At the thought of it, her weakened body swayed and reluctantly slumped over to its side, the strange grab-pack sliding from her shoulders somewhat and resting behind her.
Gentle panting ensued, poor Y/n's eyelids flickering slowly as she desperately tried to regain her energy. She'd crawled this entire way here, all while injured and hallucinating. She swore that... she could hear her friends... They were gathered around outside, whooping and chattering like imprisoned apes, peering demonically through all dark gaps and openings. The room was awash with dreadful thick shadows, draining the cheerful colors of the room. The malicious winking eyes of the distorted faces of her friends pressed against the dim skylight, laughing at her, snapping their horrible jaws, and flashing their terrifying forked tongues. The walls were like fluid, bending and wavering as if they were simply freed from all logic. All sounds, all colors, all senses possible were completely overwhelming the unfortunate young girl, a miserable wail tearing itself from her throat, dry as a desert.
Fat wet tears rolled down her cheeks, e/c eyes as wide as saucers. Why where they laughing at her? What was so hilarious? Why wouldn't they tell her?
Y/n just cried. She cried and cried, but still they laughed. Still they laughed and ignored her tears. Why? Why were they laughing?
Their screeching voices grew only louder. Howling guffaws rang through the air outside, muffled and echoey as they bounced aimlessly from the rotting old metal walls.
There was a creaking. A creaking so large, that it rattled Y/n's bones with a rippling soul-fear. This did not come from inside her head. A humongous shift of weight was happening right before her eyes.

I understand now. I understand why they are laughing at me.

Her exhausted body trembled weakly as she hastily shuffled the heavy contraption off her shoulders completely, while simultaneously trying to get herself away. Her voice froze completely in her throat, a hard, sticky ball of pure horror blocking her airway. This couldn't be real. This couldn't possibly be real.

They laugh at me because the monster is waking up. He's waking up and I'm the one who has to deal with him.

      Kind pink lips unfurling.

Patient black, beady eyes flickering to life, animalistic mystery winking within.

      Monstrous white fangs frothing.

      Razor sharp claws emerging.

It was like something out of the deepest, darkest pits of her nightmares, skulking leviathan-like from the alien darkness while wearing a seething smile. Jolly mascot turned monster.

It wasn't real. It had to be an hallucination. Just another hallucination. It isn't real. It isn't real... It isn't real!!!

      Plip. Plip. Plip.

Thick globs of saliva spilled from evil lips, falling right onto the cheerful-colored tile in front of Y/n.

It's not real. It's not real!

She squeezed her eyes shut tightly. The animal was upon her, it's hot breath fanning her face. She could feel the warmth of the creature, the brisk caress of its fur. Surely it would kill her. Surely its serrated teeth would tear her soft flesh to bloody ribbons-

The monster clasped her in its cruel grip, clutching her by the waist, squeezing her so tightly, it felt like she could hardly breathe. Y/n wanted to scream. Oh, how badly did she want to scream. But she couldn't. Her throat wouldn't make the sound. Merciless dilated black eyes probed their odd prey, perhaps darkly curious of the way it did not cry out like they were used to seeing so often. Heavy breaths heaved past the monster's terrifying maw, its thick, dark tongue slithering against her neck and face, to which she responded with a breathy whimper.
It seemed to pause, as if amused by her horrified pain. Y/n felt it only grip her tighter, its thick claws uncomfortably prodding her in several places. She realized with a nauseating stab of soul-fear that it was holding her increasingly tighter and tighter against its chest, her own chest being squished suffocatingly closer.

      "Y/n!!!"

      Who was that?

      "Y/N!!! Where are you??!!"

Was it real? Was it truly real?

The monster's grip was slipping... Almost reluctantly.... It pried its lecherous claws from her and deftly returned to its previous frozen position.

Y/n was left crumpled on the ground, as if she were merely a doll discarded by a giant child. Her vision blurred and darkened briefly, the acid trip hardly waning. When she opened her eyes again, it was Eddie who hovered over her with a concern-wrinkled brow. Indignant anger flared in her hollow-feeling chest, before wilting into a weak and traumatized puddle. Hot tears stung her vision as she hopelessly wept. Words would not form no matter how hard she tried.

The monster is tricking you, she wanted to plead to him.

The monster is tricking you and you're letting him.

"Aww, there, there... Come on, now, kid..." he murmured gently, stooping to guiltily gather her into a position where she was leaning on him, but still semi-standing.

"I'm sure you're good and scared enough... Let's get you away from this spooky muppet, yeah...?"

He started moving, gently guiding her to the hallway from whence she came, but Y/n suddenly threw out her arms and grabbed him jarringly by the shoulders. Eddie shot her a look of wide-eyed alarm, still holding onto her despite her action.

"Y/n-"

"It came to life, Eddie! It's tricking you! I-It's tricking you!" She cried hoarsely, trying to shake him slightly, but he didn't budge.

"You're losing your mind, kid! It's ok, it's ok...! You're only tripping, it's only drugs... ok?" He seemed to be trying his best to calm her, this version of him far more like-able than his previous display of personality. But now was not the time.

"It's not just drugs!" Y/n exploded. "It's not! Please, Eddie, we're in danger!"

Eddie looked down into her eyes with stern sympathy, the look a worried father would have etched into the mature lines on his face when soothing his crying child. It made him look much older and almost more responsible. He gently shook his head without breaking eye contact, steadily continuing to hastily shuffle her away from the devious blue creature.

"It's tricking you, Eddie." She said for a final time, in a tiny voice.

She noticed him gulp, then shake his head.

"No, Y/n, no... Don't say that... There's no monster, kid... There's no monster..."

Eddie was doing most of the hard work, practically dragging her weight at this point. He considered trying to carry her, but he wasn't sure if he was strong enough to go that far. "You hurt your leg pretty bad, huh? Maybe Todd will carry you back... Everyone's looking for you... Wanderin' through this ol' dump... Toad got super pissed that we made you come in all alone and trippin'.... I guess I feel pretty bad... You forgive me... right...?"

It was obvious that Eddie was actually heavily intoxicated, despite how effectively he seemed to be dragging his companion. The more she listened to him talk, the more she noticed the way he slurred some of his speech. Y/n just looked at him hopelessly, expecting for the creature to come barreling at them from behind at any moment... But it did not.... as if it had no trouble at all with waiting to strike.

"Come on, don't give me that silence... It's ok now, see? We're gonna walk over here and we-" A rather boyish belch. "Gon-Gonna... Gonna shut this door behind us, nice and- suh-safe..." Y/n noticed with discomfort, the way he seemed to curl himself around her more.

That was when she blacked out again.
