There was a young girl about 10 whose family recently moved to this house on the outskirts of town and near the swamp. Her name was Lola and was very adventurous. Lola wanted to explore the swamp but the townsfolk said it was cursed. One day Lola was sitting on her front porch gazing into the swamp until evening when she had to go in and eat dinner.

"Mother, I want to explore the swamp," Lola said.

"You know what the townsfolk have said about the swamp," her mother told her.

"Besides there's plenty of other things to do besides explore the swamp," stated her father. Lola then got up and went to her room to go to bed. The next day on the front porch was a package addressed to Lola. Lola brought the package inside the house and opened it to see a nice big pumpkin. Lola held up the pumpkin by the stem glaring at it disappointed.

"A pumpkin really," Lola grumbled to herself. So she put it back into the box and left the kitchen to do her daily examination of the swamp. At about around noonish Lola's mother had Lola come in for lunch. Lola sighed and went in to have lunch.

" I put your package in your room for you," her mother told Lola, "

What!" Screamed Lola causing her to drop her sandwich onto the floor.

" It's very nice of someone to think of you," said her father,

"Your father is right Lola", stating agreeing with her father.
