On the other side of the door was an atrium. In it had a café, chairs, and tables on the right-hand side, and what looked like restrooms and more tables on the left. In front of us were two sets of stairs that led down to a lower section. I glanced over a railing and saw an elevator on the far side.

"I bet that elevator leads to the lights," I said, my voice echoed throughout the room.

"You think so?" Mark responded, obviously a bit more skeptical.

"Sure, I also bet that desk down there," I point at it, "controls it and maybe a few other things," I start making my way down the stairs, intrigued.

Mark followed me, looking on edge. He shone his flashlight at almost every single corner of the room.

"Easy, Mark," I assure him as I walk behind the desk, "I think it's safe to assume that there isn't a boogeyman or whatever."

He shot me a dirty look.

"What?"

"Aren't you the least bit worried at why Janice disappeared?"

"Well yeah, but-"

"But what? Can you explain what happened to her?" He was irritated, but he was definitely right. There really isn't any explanation to her disappearance. How couldn't we have noticed either? That dumbass door was apparently loud enough to block out any other noise. For now, though, I just put the thoughts into the back of my mind and worked on turning the computer on. After about a minute, its monitor lite to life, and I had access to the elevator controls.

"Surprisingly has power..." I muttered.

The elevator opened, but it wasn't me who opened it.

Two people, a woman and a man, walked out. The woman held a revolver in her hand, and was aiming it at me. The man held what looked like a incinerary unit.

"Get off the computer," the woman ordered, and I listened, holding up my hands to show that I didn't mean any harm.

"Look," I started, "we don't want any trouble, we just-"

"I know why you're here," She said, lowering her revolver, "We heard your radio transmission, we just weren't able to respond to it."

"Is there more than just the two of you?" I asked.

Before she could respond, a loud thump rang throughout the atrium. Fear shot through their expressions, and the woman raised her gun.

"Inside the elevator, now," she whispered, panicked.

The four of us rushed into the elevator, the man aimed his flamethrower at the darkness that filled the room. The woman pushed one of the elevator buttons, but nothing happened.

"Come on, come on, come on," she muttered as she frantically kept pushing the button. The man started to panic as well, his grip around his flamethrower tightened.

"What's the-" I started.

"SHUT THE FUCK UP!" she snapped, tears started to fill her eyes.

Another thump, closer this time.

I was confused beyond comprehension. So was Mark, by the look of his expression.

Now the woman was practically punching the elevator controls, but soon she gave up, and held up her revolver.

"John, get ready," she said to the man, and he nodded.

She turned to me, calmer than she was a couple seconds ago, "Mind turning on that light of yours?"

I nodded, and toggled it on. There was nothing there.

"What the hell are you two so worried about?" I asked.

They both ignored me, they're eyes trained on wherever my light shone.

Suddenly an ear-piercing scream rang throughout the entire ship, sounding full of hatred. I had to cover my ears for a moment, as the paranormal screetch passed through my mind.

"It's here," The woman whispered.

A black figure dropped from the ceiling, just about 20 meters away from the elevator door. I shone the flashlight at it, and I could immediately tell that it wasn't anything human. It stood roughly 8 feet tall, its dome-shaped head looked too abnormal to fit on the rest of its body. Saliva dripped from its razor-sharp jaws as it gave us a deep and unmerciful hiss. It also didn't have any apparent eyes, giving it a completely expressionless face. However even with all of these characteristics the one thing that made it truly horrifying... Was the fact that it blended completely into the dark.

"Oh my god," the woman started to cry.

She pressed the elevator button one last time, and luckily the door started to close.

The creature charged, full of anger, the thumps of each of its footsteps sent vibrations through the elevator.

"NOW JOHN!" the woman barked.

John fired his flamethrower, and a stream of flames was blasted at the creature. It not only stopped the creature from charging, but it also gave the elevator enough time to close.
