"Terrowin!" A woman's voice shouted. "Terrowin, wake up!"
"Shut up, human!" Another woman shouted with a hiss. "Let him rest. In my mother's idiocy, she allowed him to use a second rate spell. That would have killed you. Well, if you could use magic."
I tried to curl my fingers, though they were numb and I couldn't tell if they were actually moving. I forced my eyes open and recoiled as far as I could.
"Hey, Terrowin!" Katherine shouted. She was hovering above me, her face a few inches from mine. "See, Miniel, I told you all he needed was me shouting."
"Can you get off of me?" I growled.
Katherine put her finger up to her chin. "No, I don't think I can.
I pushed her off of me, causing her to break into a roll. Miniel gave me her hand, which I took. She helped me into a sitting position.
"Why are you being so kind." I glared at Miniel. I had, after all, heard what she had said about her mother.
Miniel averted her eyes. "I was surprised. Seeing as you are human, you should be dead."
I stood up. We were still in the training hall, and had gathered some interest. A small group had gathered around me, all of whom elves.
Most of the surrounding elves were glaring at me, however one or two were smiling. One of the smiling elves walked out of the group and held out her hand. I had to stare up to look her in the eyes.
"Hello, you must be the Dragon Master." her voice was soft, like every other elf I met. "Forgive the glares of my kin, some of us are more sensible than others. If ever you need it, you have my aid. Feel free to call for Esta."
Miniel glared at Esta. "Why are you here, Esta? I thought you were ordered to scout out the perimeter."
Esta bowed to Miniel. "I apologize, my princess, but I could not pass up the chance to meet a Dragon Master. Though I did expect someone older."
Katherine ran up to Esta and shook her hand. "Hello, Esta, I am Katherine."
Esta shook her hand out of Katherine's grip. "Why-hello. Katherine." She sounded annoyed.
The group of elves dispersed, leaving only Katherine, Esta, Miniel, and I. I stared at Esta. She had long silver hair and sea green eyes. Her nose was small and her lips had a slight puff.
"Terrowin," Katherine let out a fake cough. "I want to show you around."
"Sorry, Katherine," I stared at her for a moment before turning back to Esta. "I would like to talk to Esta. Alone."
Esta's face turned a slight pink. "Dragon Master, if you don't mind my saying, I believe you should go with your friend."
"In all respect," I smiled at Esta. "There are things I would like to ask you."
Esta nodded. "Feel free to ask me anything, Dragon Master."
Miniel sat on the ground against a wall. "Feel free to ask her, Terrowin. I'm staying here until you ask me to take you to your chambers."
I looked around me. Katherine had disappeared. I felt free to speak. "Esta," I began. "Why do the elves and humans hate each other?"
Esta nodded as if recalling the answer. "It goes back three of our kings-about fourteen of yours, including the current. From what I learned, humans had just arrived here-the continent. Anyways, us elves were afraid of you like feral beasts. We hid among the trees to avoid you.
"That was when you started cutting down the trees to build your homes. As you probably know, elves are very fond of nature. We took your cutting down trees as a sign of aggression.
