Ok, this chapter might be a bit rough, idk. I'm writing this before I've started but I'm kinda lacking in ideas. I know where to go after this chapter, but I'm not sure how this one will turn out.
Port Columbus International Airport
Columbus, Ohio
June 1
1600 Hours
The car ride had taken longer than expected, due to construction on the road. It was already unlikely that Murray would still be there when we arrived, since he usually kept moving around, but this made it even slimmer. Right now the plan was to get into the airport and find the RDU to CMH, then hack into the tickets, find Murray, and see if he had any other plane tickets booked. It was a very loose plan, but it was the best we had.
The CIA had caught on by now where I was - for some reason they'd put a bug on me so they could listen in on anything I did in case I got in trouble. Someone heard the voice of Alexander and recognized it, then learned Alexander hadn't been seen for hours and connected the dots. This meant that we not only had to worry about Murray, assassins, and conspiracy theorists, but the CIA as well. This wasn't the first time I'd gone rogue on a mission, in fact it was very common.
Currently, we were staking out near the parking lot in front of the entrance. "We take out one of the security guards, then infiltrate the laundry room and get some of the spare uniforms." Cyrus went over the plan, pointing to the building where we needed to go. There was a lone security guard near one of the shuttle stations close by, hopefully out of sight from anyone else. "Everyone clear?" He definitely wasn't going to explain it again if someone did have a question, but no one objected. Cyrus started on his way over to the guard, having told us to stay behind and wait.
As he walked he shifted his posture down, hunching over slightly. He imitated a small limp in his right leg. If I hadn't known this was the same man who could take out an entire entourage of terrorists in three seconds flat, I would've thought he was a aging grandparent.
We were only around seven cars down from where the guard was, close enough to barely be in earshot of Cyrus. The guard noticed him now, immediately dropping his guard and his face morphing to slightly concerned from a lone old man, no one around. This was a key tactic in spying, exemplified perfectly here. Using your age or appearance to lower someone's guard. Cyrus stopped and leaned against a car, pretending to be exhausted. He was about three or four feet away from the officer. "Is there something I can help you with, sir?" the guard asked Cyrus, politely. I didn't like the idea of incapacitating an undeserving policeman, but I suppose it was the better of two evils.
"Well," Cyrus started. "You see, I was wondering if you would mind me knocking you out-" at this moment, Cyrus completely shifted into a different person, dropping the fake hunch and limp, lunging out at the security guard. The guard had no more than half a second to react, his best defense being lifting up his hands to protect the face. Cyrus wheeled around him, working deftly, appearing on different sides of him every second, like he was a magician performing a trick. He got behind the guard and chopped him on the back of the neck, knocking him unconscious. His limp body collapsed to the asphalt.
"Go," I heard Erica say from beside me, addressing her father. She gave him a look that I couldn't quite make out and shoved him out from our cover behind the car, and he took off, jogging towards Cyrus. Me and Mike kept staring intently at the scene. Cyrus was already dragging the poor man to cover behind a black SUV, Alexander joining him shortly. Alexander had agreed to take the role as the security guard, since it'd be much more believable that a middle aged man would be working a police job than someone who was born during World War Two. Cyrus was skeptical of Alexander's abilities, but he trusted Erica, and Erica put her faith in her father.
