Aether had finished his commissions for the day and decided to treat himself for once. He never did this sort of thing, and didnt really know how to go about it. While walking from the adventurers guild's booth to Mondstadts best tavern, the Angels share, he ran into diluc. Aether always envied diluc a little bit. He sort of saw him as a dad - he looked up to him. The dark night hero was admired by everyone, even if 'everyone' didnt quite know his identity. Aether stumbled into him a little bit. Diluc looked down on him, kind of chuckling. "Excuse you!" he said jokingly, smiling.
Aether didn't expect Diluc to react like that. Rather he expected to get yelled at, even though he knew Diluc was a nice person. He couldn"t mess up, and he just had. He had to hold back tears. Why did I do that? How did I do that? It wouldve been so easy to just walk past him, why why why-
Aether was frozen for a moment. Diluc's expression changed from that of a happy smile to a look of concern. He put his hand on the honorary knight's shoulder. "Hey, is everything.. alright?"
Diluc felt awkward. He was not someone who was very emotionally present. Whatever he had caused, he didn"t know how to handle it.
Aether quickly left his head and snapped back to reality. "Sorry, Diluc, I shouldve been more careful, I don't know how-"
"It's okay," Diluc said. "I was joking with you when I said 'excuse you', it's fine. You just bumped into me, nothing was done."
"But, I bumped into you, thats the problem, I'm sorry, I need to be careful." Aether was choking on tears at that point. Diluc was feeling slowly and slowly more distressed at the sight. He cared deeply about Aether and could tell Aether wanted to be just like him. He made sure to talk to him when he could, and even tried to teach him some things about the wine industry, elemental powers, and forging weapons. He was there for him most of the time. So why was this... confusing? He never saw Aether like this. Even though he was probably the most familiar with him out of anybody in Teyvat... besides his lost sister, he didn"t know what to do for him here.
"I... Aether, I said it's okay- please don't- don't get like that, It's fine."
They were still standing by the adventurers guilds' booth. Aether had barely left yet when he bumped into Diluc. At that point they were getting looks. Marjorie stared right through Aether and donna gazed at Diluc. Flora looked confused, and Katheryne... was Katheryne.
Diluc didnt know what to do.
