It was evening, and Elle was working part-time in a convenience store that her brother's friend manages as Caleb didn't trust many people. Elle had tried to convince Caleb to continuously let her work to help with finances, only for him to give in soon and allow her to work part-time as long as she could keep up with her studies. With her promises being kept, she could work and earn some money for their expenses. Caleb's friend, Boqin, was an Asian American working to replace his uncle, who had been feeling ill for a bit. So Boqin volunteered to help.
"Hey, Elle. It would be best if you headed back home. After all, it is getting late," Boqin said as he smiled while Elle was stocking up the shelves. She soon looked up at the clock, widening her eyes at how late she was before running to grab her stuff.
"Yikes! I did not realize how late it was! Brother is going to kill me!" Elle exclaimed as she ran around to grab her stuff. While she held her property, a breaking news alert echoed from the television, allowing both to stop what they were doing and take a look. Usually, when a random Breaking News alert came out, the two would look at the news considering Gotham wasn't exactly the safest city at night.
"Wait a minute... Elle isn't that..?!" Boqin said with wide eyes, but Elle knew what he would say.
"Breaking News. This is Celine in Gotham City, and right now, I am in front of a housing area where a sighting of a civilian of Gotham is being attacked by a black-haired male who claims to be Klarion," a female reporter with short black hair and black eyes, wearing a navy blue blazer. Her casual look replaced panic as soon as chaotic red energy exploded behind her, setting the place on fire before the cameras went off.
"That's is no doubt, home..." Elle muttered as she narrowed her eyes, grasping her bag before running out of the store. But before she could go anywhere, Boqin grabbed her shoulder, keys in his other hand. "I'll drive. Get on the bike."
It just took a minute when both quickly reached Elle's home district. Elle's raven black eyes looked around; her eyes caught sight of her brother covered upon a blood-red shield against the red magic that Klarion shot towards him, a monstrous cat trying to get through the shield. Caleb winced as he held onto his shield tightly. A few people were protected by the shield as well. It was complete chaos.
Boqin widened his eyes as he saw this. He knew Caleb's abilities but had never seen this before. At the same time, he wanted to save his best friend. Boqin was about to rush to him, but Elle stood before him, stopping him from moving forward as she dropped her bag.
"Boqin. Stay back..." Elle said as she grabbed his motorcycle helmet, zipping up her black jacket. "Whatever you do. Never tell anyone anything. Understood?" Boqin looked down at her before he slowly nodded. Elle soon rummaged through her bag, taking out a knife.
"Elle? A knife isn't going to cut it!" Boqin said, frustrated, causing Elle to glare at him behind the motorcycle helmet.
"This isn't for him..." Elle said as she pulled the sleeve of her jacket up. The knife immediately dug into her arm, causing Boqin to yelp.
"What the hell do you think you are-"
"Keep quiet, Boqin. Don't forget I am Caleb's sister... Now move to somewhere safe."
With this, Boqin kept quiet and left to hide quickly before Elle looked in the direction of her brother and Klarion, the shield seemed to be cracking, and the cat's fangs appeared to be getting through the shield.
"Well, blood mage! Surrender yourself and the Young Justice members!" Klarion cackled, which made Elle narrow her eyes. Did they think her brother was the blood mage?
"I think you need to learn to shut the hell up!" Caleb exclaimed as he tried to keep the shield up, glancing back at the groaning and some unconscious Young Justice members behind him. "God fucking damn it..." Caleb muttered before looking in front, noticing the cat was about to break through the shield. The moment it shattered, a shot of blood-red liquid hit the cat. Caleb knew exactly who it was. Only one other person could control blood like him.
Klarion's head turned in surprise to see a female in all black clothes, her face covered by a motorcycle helmet. He looked back and forth between Caleb and Elle, hiding behind the helmet. "Two? Which one is the mage?" Klarion exclaimed in irritation before pointing each of his hands towards the two of them. "I'll just take both of you!"
Elle narrowed her eyes, blood flowing out of her arm and surrounding her like a long rope before shooting towards Klarion, allowing it to encircle around his arm. He seemed to be about to diss her until the blood flamed up, allowing Klarion to yell and explain as he was burnt, his arm shaking as the fire wore down, the blood returning to Elle, who was now next to Caleb.
"What the heck do you think you are doing?" Caleb whispered, shouting at her as she looked at him from behind the motorcycle visor.
"Saving our asses. What else?" Elle whispered, shouting back as she did her best to restore his blood before looking back at Klarion, that yelled in annoyance and shot chaotic magic towards her. She extended her arm, forming a quick shield that blocked off the attack, and shot toward him.
Her once black eyes were glowing red behind the helmet's visor as she looked at the Young Justice heroes behind Caleb. Her arm pointed towards them, blood traveling up to their bodies as they glowed, wrapping around their chests.
"No, no, no, no, NO! Teekl! Attack whoever that is!" Klarion exclaimed as he teleported back, clearly agitated as the monstrous cat soon ran and went to pounce on Elle. She glanced around as Caleb immediately made a shield to block the cat's attack. The cat hissed as it bounced off the shield while the members of the Young Justice team soon gained consciousness. Elle lowered her arm as she noticed this. The blood slithered off their bodies and back to her. She soon focused back on Klarion. One a demon and one a blood mage. But both had one thing in common. Both have dangerous, dark, and chaotic magic.
"What the heck..." Kid Flash muttered as he looked at the two people in front of them, blood floating around them. "It feels like there was a blood bath."
"It's not a blood bath. It's their magic," Aqualad said. "And the helmeted one is probably the blood mage we are all looking for."
