Young Justice: The Blood Mage

Chapter 4

Caleb and Elle were in an entirely blocked-off white room as blood was being supplied into Elle's system. Black Canary took off her helmet before, so the cameras placed in the room knew what she looked like. Her red eyes glowed as she analyzed the contents of the blood being supplied to her body. She wanted to be careful of what was being placed inside her body. Elle was also giving Caleb blood once the blood was analyzed.

The Young Justice members and some members of the Justice League watched the two in their main debriefing room. A big screen was revealed to the members as they watched Elle do her magic until she closed her eyes, sighing, signaling that she was finished, and Caleb took over with the blood transfusion.

"Hey, brother... Think they are watching us?" Elle mumbled under her breath with her eyes closed, only to reveal black eyes, watching as Caleb nodded before pointing at the camera. She looked at the cam for a second before looking back at her hand, blood-forming into a smell pebble-like ball in her hand. The small ball suddenly turned into flames.

"Elle..." Caleb said in a dangerously low voice as if warning her.

"I agreed to be taken here. Not being watched like a lab rat," Elle said as she looked at Caleb, hovering the small ball in her hand. The two looked at each other silently before Elle sighed and closed her hand into a fist, the blood in her fist. "I'm kidding. Not in the mood to destroy the League's base. If I did, the world would be in chaos."

As soon as Elle finished the sentence, the door opened, causing them to look up and see Batman, Zatara, Red Tornado, and Black Canary. Caleb stood up, facing them while he was wary as Elle peeked from behind him.

"Replenished already?" Black Canary said with a smile.

"Yes. We are," Elle said as she stood up, looking at her silently.

"Come on out," Red Tornado said in a machine-like voice before they started to walk out. Caleb and Elle looked at each other before walking out, seeing the Young Justice members watching them. 

Caleb sighed as he pulled on his tie, his white button-up shirt dirty from the dust upon it, one of his sleeves pulled up for the blood he had to use before. Caleb now tied his black hair back into a small ponytail to prevent it from covering his rosewood eyes to seem a little neater from the battle before.

Elle had her jacket zipped off and tied up on her waist, her shoulder-length black hair in a mess from her helmet. Unlike her brother, her eyes were as black as charcoal. Her shirt was still the yellow and green collared button-up shirt while she paired them with black jeans and shoes.

"Caleb Brantorius and Elle Brantorius," Batman said as he looked at them as the two looked at him silently. "Welcome to Mount Justice."

Elle and Caleb looked at each other before looking at Batman and then the group's younger members. Elle soon felt a rush of wind behind her before placing an arm around her shoulder. She tensed up as she grabbed the arm and flipped whoever that was, suddenly appearing behind her, only to see who it was. The members of the Young Justice team tried their best not to laugh while Kid Flash stood up, groaning as he placed a hand on his head, rubbing his head. Elle blinked as Caleb smirked a bit at what his sister did. What a great first impression they gave.

"Dang. Fiesty. I like it~" Kid Flash said, which caused Elle to blink and stare at him before Caleb coughed, a slight glare sent towards him. Caleb was a little bit taller amongst them, considering he was 16. And Elle being a 14-year-old, was able to tell that he was not happy with how Kid Flash was acting. She elbowed Caleb a bit as she looked up at him. Caleb sighed and looked at them once again.

"Well. Why exactly are we in your... Mount?" Caleb said as he crossed his arms, raising an eyebrow at them.

"Because your sister and yourself will be staying here from now on," Black Canary said as she smiled reassuringly. But the smile didn't stop them from getting annoyed and angry.

"Says who?" Elle said as she narrowed her eyes as crossed her arms.

"Says us. It is for your safety and best interest to stay here," Red Tornado said as he crossed his arms, looking at Elle.

"We did well on our own before whatever Witch Boy that was attacked us," Caleb said as he narrowed his eyes. "And we are the ones that chased him away. Well, Elle chased him away."

"And how will she defend both of you when more powerful and bigger amounts of villains come after her?" Batman said as he looked at Caleb, causing the male to have no words, and looked away; his eyes narrowed as he looked away. Elle looked down as she fiddled with her fingers, knowing precisely what Batman meant. They attacked her neighborhood. Knowing who she is afterward wouldn't be too hard after a bit of spying. That Witch Boy wasn't someone to look down upon. She couldn't imagine who he would work with. The two then looked at each other before sighing, nodding in sync as they understood why they had to stay here.

"Well, we will have some of your stuff brought here. You are allowed to go on to your everyday lives, but you will have devices to warn us in an emergency," Batman continued as Zatara came over to them with two small earrings. Caleb and Elle took one piece each before putting it on with slight hesitation. It sounded like they were being lab rats at this point. Or even worst, prisoners.

"Other than your studies and work, you will return here once done," Batman continued. Elle crossed her arms as she looked at the floor. It wasn't like she had anything to do once school was over other than work. Caleb, however, had some friends he wanted to hang out with once in a while. SO he wasn't too happy about it. 

"I have a life to attend you, excuse you," Caleb said as he narrowed his eyes after placing on the piercing, clearly angry about what was happening. His arm immediately had a cut, a knife forming in his hand. Elle noticed and quickly grabbed it, looking at Caleb silently before looking at the others, ready to defend. 

"We just regained our blood... We are not in shape to fight..." Elle whispered as she looked at him, hand still on the knife. He looked at Elle, anger still in his eyes. Both looked at each other before the blood knife returned to his wound. Elle looked at Batman and said, "Fine. We will listen. But my brother should be allowed to go out... He has friends. And it isn't him that they are looking for."

Batman narrowed his eyes as Elle looked at each other unnervingly, unwilling to back down. The man soon sighed and nodded as he looked at Caleb, knowing they would do something else if he did not agree to this condition. Batman couldn't keep them in one place and ultimately control their movements. Caleb's face lit up at the news, and he smiled. 

"Alright then. Is there anything else?" Caleb asked; the members of the League shook their heads.

"We will be heading back to our base. You two are already registered in our zeta tubes, so you can come and go when you need to. Red Tornado will be here so that you can ask him questions and the rest of the team. Team. Please do not take them out. Understood? At least for now," Batman said as he faced the Young Justice members, who all nodded. Though Elle swore, she saw them cross their fingers behind their back. Black Canary, Batman, and Zatara soon walked to the zeta beams, announcing their names and ID before teleporting away. Red Tornado soon faced the two siblings and said, "Make yourselves at home. Call my name if you need anything." before flying back to his room in the ceiling. Once he was back in his room, the Young Justice members went up to them.

"The name is Kid Flash; a pleasure to meet you, especially you, cutie~," Kid Flash said as he looked at Elle, winking a bit. Caleb narrowed his eyes and placed a hand on her shoulder, looking at Kid Flash sternly. "Or you can call me Wally."

"The name is Robin. Nice to meet you," Robin said with a mischievous smirk.

"I am Mghaan! I'm so excited to have another female member on the team finally! A boy is cool too, but I get to talk about girl things with you!" Mghaan said as she grabbed Elle on the shoulders, eyes shining in excitement. "You call also call me Megan!"

"Superboy. Also, Conner," Superboy said with crossed arms, looking at the two nonchalantly.

"Aqualad, also known as Kaldur. I am the leader of this team. A pleasure to meet you two," Kaldur said with a small smile.

"Caleb. Caleb Brantorius," Caleb said as he slightly nodded, one hand into his pocket.

"I'm Elle. Elle Brantorius..." Elle mumbled as she placed both her hands behind her back, her eyes looking at the floor for a bit, uncomfortable in her situation. But this is going to be the new norm for her from now on. Better get used to it.
