"They're here!" Sylvia called from down the stairs
. Draco and Harry ran to the front door as fast as possible, and saw the two barn owls swooping down. They landed on the railing on the porch, and held out their legs.
Draco and Harry grabbed the letters, gave the owls some treats, and opened the letters. The letters were for Hogwarts, the best wizarding school in Britain.
"I can't believe it!", Harry exclaimed, turning over the envelope. Draco had already ripped the envelope of his, and was reading it with awe.
"Open the letter, Harry. The content is much more interesting than the envelope." Sylvia said, staring at the envelope in his hands.
Harry carefully opened the letter .
"The envelope isn't made of gold, Harry." Sylvia said matter-of-factly.
"So what?" Harry questioned skeptically, "It's still really important."
"Open the letter already! Draco's read his letter four times by now!" Sylvia groaned.
"Give me a second," Harry requested. "I'll remove the letter." He pulled out a piece of parchment slowly.
"Stop taking so long doing everything so carefully!" Sylvia whined, her eyes still fixed on the piece of parchment.
Harry had removed the letter and was reading it; his eyes widening comically. Sylvia craned her neck, trying to read it herself.
"I can't believe you're going to go to Hogwarts! I've still got two more years!" Sylvia said jealousy, now looking over Draco's shoulder, who was already reading his supply list. When Sylvia turned back to Harry, he turned away from her so she couldn't see the letter.
It was much more satisfying when you didn't have someone looking at everything before you saw it yourself.
Sylvia reached out for the letter, "Hey! It's mine!" Harry yelled at her, but her grip was strong and amidst the tugging and pulling, the letter ripped apart.
"Look what you've done!" Harry roared, outraged. "You could've just let me see it!" Sylvia yelled back, clutching the other half of the letter protectively.
"And what? Let you read my Hogwarts letter before I do?" Harry shouted. Narcissa entered the room. "What's all this yelling that's going on?" Narcissa asked. "Honestly, I think half of Britain heard this argument." Sylvia took this as an opportunity to gain pity. "He didn't let me read his Hogwarts letter. I waited and waited, but as soon as he was done, he said he was going to show you. He promised to let me read it. And when I asked, he got really angry, and then I tried to touch it, and he pulled it, and it tore. Now he's blaming me!" She said, rubbing her eyes.
The tears, obviously, were crocodile tears, but Narcissa didn't see through them, and turned to look at Harry. "Is this true?" she asked. "No!" Harry exclaimed, "Of course not, why would I tear up my own Hogwarts letter? It was Sylvia who tore it because she grabbed at it and wouldn't let go!" "He's lying!" Sylvia cried. "Okay Harry, apologize." Harry seethed with anger. "Sorry Sylvia." he said between gritted teeth. "I didn't mean to grab it from you." "You didn't say it properly, do it again." Sylvia ordered. Harry was about to protest when Narcissa shot him a glare. He put on a fake, sweet smile and said, "Sorry Sylvia. I didn't mean to grab it from you."
Narcissa smiled at Sylvia "All better now, dear?" "Yes!" Sylvia chirruped. Narcissa turned to Harry and said, "Go to your room and stay there. I don't want you being mean to Sylvia again today." Harry nodded and started up the stairs. When he was halfway up, a shocked Draco came running up the stairs toward him. "That was so unfair to you!" Draco burst out. "I know." Harry sighed.
When they got to their room they played a few games of Exploding Snap, and then Harry took out the envelope and removed another piece of parchment. It was the supply list. He read it carefully. "When do you reckon we'll go to get these?" Harry asked, and Draco replied, "Probably sometime next week. Most likely when the guests leave , ofcourse."
An owl swooped in their bedroom window, dropping a copy of The Daily Prophet , which Harry stated inquiringly at. "Thought we might like to keep up with the news," Draco grinned , and he paid the owl. He took the paper then stared at the newspaper.
"They still haven't found Harry Potter yet?" Harry asked. Draco cheekily grinned. "Who knows , it could be you. "Me?! Draco , Stop Joking. The odds of me being Harry Potter are similar to the odds of Voldemort being an ugly joker with a red nose and blue eyeshadow." Draco snorted at the thought.
"You look a lot like him. Plus , you turned up on our doorstep the day he was lost." Draco reasoned, but Harry shook his head.
"I'm pretty sure one of our relatives decided to play a prank on us." Harry replied, and Draco sighed.
