What is lust? Something you should avoid!
"You must not commit adultery," Exodus 20:14. This was an overlooked–forgotten command/rule that was spread all through the bible, not just in the beginning of the book. Some people think that watching pornography and pleasing is not a part of adultery/sin because they're not cheating on their spouses, they're not married–but it actually is!
If we look at Matthew 5:27-28, "You have heard the commandment that says, you must not commit adultery, but I say, anyone who even looks at a woman with lust has already committed adultery with her in his heart." When it comes to adultery, we shall not do it, and it doesn't mean that we have to physically do the act, even if we do it in our minds, which is thinking about women/men in different kind of ways, watching porn, and thinking being in that place with them or lusting over them.
If we're still doing that, we're still committing adultery.
We're still doing sexual immorality.
We still sin.
Moving on to Ephesians 5:3, "Let there be no sexual immorality, impurity, or greed among you. Such sins have no place among God's people." If you are being impure, with your thoughts, with your actions, your words, your deeds, and if you're being greedy, and being self-centered, and self-focused, all. "All about me, I deserve everything, it's me or nothing."
It means that we're going down the wrong path, if we don't see that, we're deceived, and we need a veil taken off of our eyes so we can see clearly and start living for God in a way that is a living sacrifice to Him which is a pleasing aroma to God.
Join me in 1 Corinthians 6:18-20, "RUN from sexual sins! No other sin so clearly affects the body as this one does. For sexual immorality is a sin against your own body." Flee from any temptation whatsoever, you mustn't look back or look away, you must flee. Run. Avoid. Don't look back. When you see an inappropriate picture of someone, or maybe advertisements, hentais, porn, anything, put down your phone and stop looking at it. Close the app. Close the tab. Just look away, whatever you do, do not fall into sexual immorality, and do not sin!
You're on the computer, then you see something unexpected in your youtube recommendation, then you started fueling your mind with sinful thoughts, you have an opportunity to click in a new tab and just type in something that would please yourself in a sexual manner, but no, do not ever do that. Close the tabs, close everything, continue doing your work, whatever you do, flee from that temptation and do something else that would glorify God instead.
"Don't you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given by God? You do not belong to yourself, for God bought you with a high price, so you MUST honor God with your body." Jesus sacrificed Himself for you and your sins, how dare you use your body in this way? Your body that's not even yours that God has given you just to satisfy yourself when God has been giving you literally everything you need, you don't deserve, don't treat God that way.
It is not your body. Glorify God with it because He is the one giving it. Jumping to Psalms 66:18-20, even after all of this was said, God still loves us, He's with us, He wants to set us free, He wants to heal us, He wants to give us abundant life in Him. So, the key is, the first line in verse 18. If I had not confessed the sin in my heart, the Lord would not have listened."
We need to confess. When we confess, God is merciful, gracious, and loving. He listens, and He helps us find freedom in Him, and just another scripture that falls align with that one is James 5:16, we need to humble ourselves to confess it to our brothers and sisters, if you're a guy, go find a brother in Christ that you can confess to, that you confide in, that he will pray for you. If you're a girl, go find a sister in Christ that you can confess to, that you could confide in, that she will pray for you.
If you committed sins, you will be forgiven, so we need to confess to the Lord Himself, therefore you will be forgiven. Go to God, confess to him, just like how a person would confess to their crushes. Confess what you felt, what you thought, what you did, what you felt about doing it. Say it all, and He surely would listen to you.
Amen.
Thank you for your time today, I hope that everyday will be amazing for you, may your faith in Christ be strengthened through this book! <3
